Final Fantasy IV: The After Years now available on iOS

Following up on December 2012 release of Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy V (which arrived back in May), publisher Square Enix has released a brand new game in the series. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, now available for the iPhone and iPad, takes place seventeen years after the characters and events of its predecessor.

The game also includes some of the original characters along with new heroes such as Ceodore, the son of Final Fantasy IV‘s Cecil and Rosa. I've included a trailer and a couple more highlights after the jump...

Final Fantasy VII iOS release could be ‘years away,’ says Square Enix

Square Enix director Takashi Tokita recently confirmed to the gaming blog Kotaku that Final Fantasy VI will be hitting iOS and Android this winter.

Though the exec dropped hints about Final Fantasy VII being considered for mobile, he was quick to stress that no definite decision has been reached yet.

It seems now that a mobile Final Fantasy VII edition may be "years away" due to space limitations. I have the full story right after the break...

It has never been a better time to be both a Final Fantasy and an Apple fan. Square Enix released Final Fantasy V for the iPhone and iPad back in March (and Final Fantasy IV hit iOS last December), however the publisher isn't resting on its laurels.

According to Square Enix director Takashi Tokita, the next chapter in the Final Fantasy saga is set to unfold in the coming weeks as the firm, formed as the result of a merger between Square and Enix, gears up to release Final Fantasy VI on iOS and Android this winter. Twenty years following its original release on SNES, Square Enix's Final Fantasy V has landed on the iPhone and iPad. The game invites you travel the lands commanding a band of four in search for the mysterious crystals that control the four elements - earth, water, fire and wind - thereby bringing peace and prosperity to the world.

These things have lost their power and are on the verge of destruction so you must find a way to restore their power. The iOS version also includes The Sealed Temple from the 2006 release, the Tetsuya Nomura-designed optional boss Enuo and an all-new soundtrack...

Final Fantasy V reportedly landing on iOS later this month

Good news Final Fantasy fans, a new report is out this afternoon claiming that the highly anticipated iOS port of the popular RPG's fifth episode will be happening in the not-so-distant future.

Famitsu is reporting that Final Fantasy V is set to hit iOS and Android devices in Japan by the end of the month, with launches in the United States and elsewhere expected shortly after...

Final Fantasy IV hitting iOS on December 20

Square Enix announced it will be bringing Final Fantasy IV to both iOS and Android. Apple's platform will enjoy a preferential treatment with the Final Fantasy IV release on Thursday, December 20, just days before Christmas. As for the Android build, it's gonna arrive some time in 2013. Final Fantasy IV is a remake of the 2008 Nintendo DS game, with visual improvements and a few nice mini-games, among other perks, which should be enough to keep fans of the franchise glued to their devices...
