iPhone 4 Falls 13,500 Feet and Lives to Tell the Tale

Apple's iPhone 4 isn't really known for being a sturdy device. Handsets have been known to almost explode upon impact with the ground, even when dropped from a modest height. With that in mind, we're surprised to hear that one particular iPhone 4 managed to survive a fall of 13,500ft from the pocket of its skydiving owner.

Now granted, it's not going to win any awards for aesthetics since its plunge, but amazingly, the handset can still make and receive telephone calls...

Apple Confirms New Product Launch in September Quarter

As far back as March, the rumor mill has had Apple's next smartphone pinned to launch in the Fall of this year. This meant that Apple would forgo a Summer iPhone announcement, which has been a ritualistic over the last 3 years.

Now that we're nearing the end of July and inching closer to the rumored Fall timeframe, it seems like iPhone rumors are spinning out of control. But in all reality, Apple never officially said anything about releasing a new device this year, until now...

Download Mac OS X Lion from the Mac App Store Now

After weeks of anticipation, Mac OS X Lion, Apple's latest and most advanced operating system, is now available for download, directly from the Mac App Store.

With over 250 new features, but most importantly a price tag of only $29.99, Lion is sure to be a hit. At 3.5 GB, this isn't your typical download, either. I've been downloading it for a while, and the progress bar has barely moved so far...

China is the Land of Fake iPhones and Fake… Apple Stores?

We all know that China is the land of fake iPhones and bootleg tech. One-third of the iPhones in China are jailbroken, and we've seen countless ripoffs and iPhone look-a-likes come from the Asia Pacific region.

But what about physical, brick and mortar ripoffs of the Apple store? Apparently, carbon copy clones of the Apple Store abound in China, and Apple has yet to do anything about them...

US Army Testing New Smartphones, iPhone Comes Out on Top

While their weapons technology is state of the art (we hope), the US Army's smartphones seem to be outdated. A recent report by CNN claims that the Army is looking into doing some upgrading by making smartphones a requisite part of field gear.

Earlier this year, we saw the US government ditch their aging cell phones in favor of iOS devices, and now it appears it's the military's turn to go 2.0...

iPhone Overtakes Nokia, Eats into Android’s Lead in Mobile Ad Traffic

Apple's iPhone is continuing its assault on the smartphone world, with the relative newcomer slapping down another mobile giant when it comes to ad impressions in Europe.

A report coming out of InMobi suggests that Apple's little phone-that-could has streaked past the old foe, Nokia, with the Finish company still reeling from a less than stellar last 12 months.

Apple saw its iPhone gain 3.3 points and rise to 19.5% of all European ad data, while Nokia saw its own results fall almost one point to 18.7%...

Defend Against an Alien Invasion with “Q Pang” for iPhone

Q Pang was developed by Bobtan and is an excellent 4.5 star rated iPhone game. If you love blowing up aliens in an explosive arcade fashion, then this game is perfect for you.

Q Pang has a traditional set up. Located at the bottom of the screen, an incredibly cute cat, the hero, must keep waves of attacking invaders from outerspace from reaching land.  In order to do so, he has to blow them sky high.

In my opinion, that’s where the similarity between Q Pang and other shooters end. First of all, the hero in question is a cat. This ferociously cute thing packs a hard punch with personality to boot. From crazy-looking glowing eyes when he’s mowing down the Qs, to coordinating outfits for some of his weapons, this alien blasting Garfield is not your typical anti-alien defense force...

Apple Once Again Reports Record Quarter, 20 Million+ iPhones Sold

Apple just announced its earnings for its 3rd fiscal quarter this year, and, as expected, they exceeded projections. Both the iPhone and iPad set sales records for the month of June, making them major factors in this quarter's success.

Don't worry, we won't bore you with all of the little details from the earnings call, but there are some important figures we wanted to share. How important? Enough to make Apple's stock briefly touch $400 per share during after hours trading...

Gruber Confirms iPad 3 in Blog Rant?

It's no secret that I'm a bit skeptical about Apple releasing another tablet this year. Heck, the iPad 2 just came out 4 months ago and is still selling rather well. Why bring another slate into the mix so soon?

Regardless of my opinion, the entire tech world seems to believe that a new iPad will be unveiled this Fall. We've heard multiple media outlets confirm the tablet talk in the last few weeks, and now DaringFireball's John Gruber chimes in...

AT&T Offers iPhone 3GS Refurb for $9

A recent rumor is that Apple will start offering the iPhone 3GS as its "low-end" consumer device this Fall with a $350 off-contract price tag. Previously, it was speculated that Apple would introduce a second iPhone 'Nano' model in the coming months for the prepaid and cheaper phone markets.

AT&T has started offering the 8GB iPhone 3GS as a refurb for only $9. Usually, these types of price drops mean that a carrier is trying to get remaining units off the shelves, so we find it unlikely that the 3GS will be of any interest to Apple come this Fall.

‘BackForwardEnhancer’ Makes Mobile Safari a Better Browser

Browsing on a mobile device has gotten a lot better over the years, but it still has a long way to go before it can begin to truly rival the desktop browsing experience available on today's modern browsers.

The iPhone's default browser, Mobile Safari, is good, but it does leave a lot to be desired in a few areas.

Navigation is one of the main areas where there's room for improvement. Besides your standard back and forwards buttons, there's just not much there.

BackForwardEnhancer -- a tweak for Mobile Safari -- aims to change this without changing the core browsing experience. Check inside for a video demonstration of how this free jailbreak tweak works...
