Foxconn wants more Sharp shares, aims to beat Samsung displays on clearness

In another hint that Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known in the Western world as Foxconn, could be gearing up for mass production of a rumored Apple television set, Reuters now reports that Foxconn is in talks with the Japanese multinational corporation Sharp about increasing its stake.

This is interesting development as Foxconn in March bought an eleven percent stake in Sharp worth $844 million. The two companies now run Sharp’s cutting-edge display plant in Sakai, Osaka, leading some to speculate that Foxconn made the move on behalf of its biggest customer, Apple of California, which has long been rumored to be readying production of a full-blown television set, which Foxconn publicly denied...

Virtual keyboard in iOS 6 now finally capitalizes after quotes and emoji

Here's another small but useful tweak in iOS 6 which went under our radar: the virtual keyboard is now clever enough to capitalize after quotes and emoji.

Previously, when you started or ended a quote or ended your sentence with emoji followed by a period, the keyboard wouldn't switch to capitals.

iOS 6 tweaks its virtual keyboard's behavior, now capitalizing after quotes and emojis, just as you'd expect...

How to install Cydia on iOS 6 beta

Last week a tethered jailbreak was released for iOS 6 running on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4th generation. While it was great to have a jailbreak so soon, the jailbreak didn't include any GUI tools like Cydia, only SSH and afc2 support were added.

Fortunately, now that we have SSH access, we can transfer and install pretty much anything on our jailbroken iOS 6 devices, including Cydia.

Check inside for the full video tutorial that shows you how to install Cydia on iOS 6 beta...

Poll: should Apple worry about Microsoft’s response to iPad

Microsoft summoned select members of the press for a media event tomorrow in Los Angeles.

The company is widely expected to respond to the iPad challenge by announcing its own tablet powered by the upcoming Windows 8 operating system.

We're wondering about your assessment of the situation: should Apple be worried or is it already too late for the Windows maker to make a substantial dent in the tablet space?

Easily control your lights and other appliances with Elphi

Digital home control may be the way of the future, but much of the current technology is still out of reach for the average consumer. It's expensive, complicated, and not very user-friendly. But there are companies looking to change that.

Take the Elphi, for example. This new "smart plug" is looking to change the way we look at home automation. Simply plug the Elphi into an AC outlet, plug in any AC-powered device to the Elphi, and open the accompanying iPhone app...

More gorgeous renderings of the new iPhone

Last week, some amazing renderings of  — what much of the tech world is assuming to be — the next generation iPhone surfaced on the net. They looked so good, in fact, that a lot of us wondered if they were the real deal.

But alas, they weren't. As we later found out, the images were just a gorgeous 3D art project by designer Martin Hayjek. And today, he's back with some even better looking renderings of the new iPhone in white...
