A new video surfaced last week, offering a great look at Apple's new 'spaceship' campus construction site. If you'll recall, Apple was given the green light by the Cupertino City Council last fall to start the project, and it appears that builders are already making serious headway.

Drone enthusiast 'jmcminn' uploaded the video to his YouTube channel, which was shot using a DJI Phantom 2 drone and a GoPro Hero. The clip is worth watching both from a technological standpoint (hello, it was shot with a consumer drone), and for the peek at Campus 2.

Universe galaxy creation wallpapers for iPhone

As the section is titled Wallpapers of the Week, it stands to reason we pick the best images we can find around the net on any given week. Today, there is a great selection of nebula and galaxy wallpapers, but I would not call them the most popular over the past seven days.

Going back a few days, Apple announced the September 9 event for iPhone, and possibly a wearable device. The event, which is always a hyped occurrence, is gaining more excitement by hosting media at the Flint Center and building a whole separate structure to house something. All of this to say, if you missed the Apple announcement wallpapers earlier this week, make sure to check out the handy work of some great iDB readers.

Apple strikes deals with American Express and MasterCard for new iPhone payments system

Recode is reporting this morning that Apple has struck a deal with American Express, to work together on its new iPhone payments system. Citing sources familiar with the talks, the site says AmEx is just one of the many credit card firms the company has been talking to for the project.

Apple's new payments system is expected to allow iPhone 6 owners to pay for things at brick-and-morter stores using the handset. It's believed that the system will utilize NFC technology, and Recode's sources say that Apple's Touch ID tech will be involved in the process at some point.

Poll: can Apple wearable survive with a $400 price tag?

Unnamed sources Saturday afternoon told Re/code that Apple's top dogs “have discussed charging around $400” for a rumored wearable device, which may or may not end up being called the iWatch.

Sources also mentioned “a range of prices for different models,” giving hope that price-sensitive consumers may be permitted to choose between lower-priced models.

We don't really know if such a device exits and it doesn't help that Re/code didn't mention where an entry-level model might start at so this is all pure speculation, but we still want to hear what you think about this rumor.

Will the rumored $400 price tag price Apple out of the market or can the firm get away with charging a premium for a superb wearable experience, do you think?

Apple mulling $400 price point for wearable device

Re/code journalists Dawn Chmielewski and John Paczkowski filed a report today claiming that Apple executives internally discussed a price point of $400 for a rumored wearable device, which is believed to be making its debut alongside new iPhones at Apple's upcoming media event scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino.

But cash-strapped would-be buyers needn't worry — the firm apparently has a lower-priced version of the device and consumers can expect “a range of prices for different models,” as per Re/code's unnamed sources.

Kick your laptop up a notch with Kickflip

There are times when typing at a flat angle is uncomfortable. It is most noticeable when using my MacBook Air 13". #PlayMe2 displays the currently playing song’s details in the Status Bar

If you've been following iDB, you'll remember that Jeff reviewed a status bar tweak a few months ago known as #PlayMe. The same developer has now released #PlayMe2 which is a more stable version of its predecessor with fewer bugs, but it serves the same purpose.

#PlayMe2 makes your Status Bar more informative by displaying the name of the currently playing song along with the artist name in the Status Bar. The tweak will rotate between the time, song name and artist name in the Status Bar. This allows you to take a quick peek at what music is playing in the background without opening the music app or Control Center.
