Amazon new hands-free camera judges your outfit in comparison with others

Online retail giant Amazon today introed a hands-free camera which has been specifically designed to judge your wardrobe choices in comparison with others. Dubbed Echo Look, it features built-in LED lighting, depth sensing, machine learning and Alexa-driven voice features.

Working in conjunction with the free mobile app for iOS and Android, it lets you snap a photo or shoot a short video of your outfit with a simple voice command. Data from the onboard depth-sensing sensor lets the device blur out your background to focus on your wardrobe.

New iPhone 8 schematic hints at wireless charging, vertically stacked cameras & no rear Touch ID

Multiple sources, including KK Leaks, OnLeaks and Benjamin Geskin, have tweeted out this claimed iPhone 8 schematic obtained from an unknown source. The alleged technical drawing may help cast light on some of the more prominently rumored features of the OLED-based device, namely wireless charging, a vertically aligned dual-lens camera on the back and—thankfully—no rear Touch ID. We cannot vouch for the legitimacy of the leaked diagram so you're advised to approach this report with some skepticism.

Chinese ride-hailing service Didi to receive $5B in funding for automated driving expansion

Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing is near an agreement to raise $5 billion to $6 billion for automated driving expansion, Bloomberg reported Wednesday. The financing round will lift Didi’s valuation to a cool $50 billion, up from a previous $34 billion after its acquisition of Uber’s China business. It would make the Beijing-based company the country's top startup by market valuation, even surpassing handset maker Xiaomi, and the most valuable startup in the world after Uber.

These renders conceptualize all-glass iPhone 8 with stainless steel frame

Last year, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speculated that nearly a dozen iPhone prototypes Apple's been testing in its labs probably include an iPhone 8 prototype with iPhone 4/4s-like design using chemically hardened curved glass on both its front and back.

To give you a visual idea of what an all-glass iPhone might look and possibly feel like, we're showcasing conceptual renderings created by artist Steel Drake. His work is a great attempt at visualizing a future OLED-based iPhone with the glass sandwich design held together by the stainless steel edges.

Apple announces that Final Cut Pro X now has two million users

Apple announced at this week’s annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference that its Final Cut Pro X video-editing software for Mac has now reached two million users, or “seats“. Five years ago, the Cupertino company launched a major redesign of the app which temporarily killed many advanced features.

Needless to say, the move irked Apple's pro users some of whom have since switched to Adobe Premiere and other rival apps. Thankfully, Apple has since added back a lot of the missing features via free updates.

Photo-sharing service Instagram announced Wednesday that its mobile app for iOS and Android has passed 700 million users. Instagram hit the 600 million users milestone in December 2016, meaning the Facebook-owned company has managed to attract a hundred million new users to its platform in less than five months.

DismissAnywhere lets you tap anywhere outside of an alert to dismiss it

Different kinds of alert messages pop up in the middle of your screen throughout iOS. They can appear for a variety of reasons, including after an attempt to buy an in-app purchase or while you try to delete apps from your Home screen.

These alert pop-ups normally have both an actionable button and a cancel button, but a new free jailbreak tweak called DismissAnywhere by Demy Kromhof puts a new spin on things by eliminating the cancel button and letting you tap anywhere outside of the alert to dismiss it.

LastTimeUnlocked displays when your iPhone or iPad was last unlocked

Do you really know when the last time your iPhone was unlocked? You might assume no one else knows your passcode, but it would be very easy for a family member or friend to unlock your device if they knew what it was and you left it unattended long enough.

A new free jailbreak tweak called LastTimeUnlocked by iOS developer ijapija00 works to your advantage in these scenarios by showing you exactly when your device was last unlocked.

Verizon introduces new $80 prepaid unlimited data plan

Verizon on Tuesday announced that it's launching a new unlimited data plan for its prepaid customers. Starting today you can activate the plan, which features unlimited data, talk and text, for $80 per month.

“In just months, Verizon has transformed its prepaid offerings to make it easier and more affordable for customers to get access to the best network at a great value, no matter how much data they need,” said Tami Erwin, executive vice president of operations for Verizon. “This plan is all about giving our prepaid customers more choice. With data plans from as little as 2 GB to unlimited data, we’ve got a plan that fits your needs.”

In addition to the 2GB and unlimited plans, Verizon offers a 5GB plan for $50 and a 10GB plan for $70. Each of these plans include Always-On Data, international text to over 200 countries, and CarryOver data.

Today's news comes less than a week after Verizon announced it lost nearly 300,000 postpaid subscribers during its first quarter. The carrier pointed to its lack of unlimited offerings as the biggest factor in the slide.
