No iOS 4.3.4 Untethered Jailbreak Coming Anytime Soon

Apple released iOS 4.3.4 yesterday, and as always, the Dev Team was right on it and updated RedSn0w to version 0.9.8 beta 3, which is a tethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 for all devices (except the iPad 2).

Those of you (all of us?) waiting for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 shouldn't get their hopes too high. As iOS hacker i0n1c mentioned today on Twitter, there probably won't be an iOS 4.3.4 untether anytime soon...

iHit, an iPhone Case for Stoners

Here is a case that our pot-smoking readers might enjoy. It's called the iHit, and it started as a KickStarter project but it got quickly suspended by KickStarter due to the intended use of the product. The guys behind it are now looking for funding on their own.

Even though the video below can be a bit misleading, we all know what the purpose of the iHit is. Store some weed and your one-hitter in there for easy access, anywhere, anytime...

iPhoneDownloadBlog is Dead… Long Live iDownloadBlog!

Today is a big day for the iDB Team. After blogging for over 3 years under the www.iphonedownloadblog.com domain name, we have decided to make a strategic move and change our name to iDownloadBlog.com.

As you've probably noticed within the past few months, we've been widening up our focus from iPhone-related information to everything iOS. There are two reasons for that...

iOS 5 Beta 3 Set to Expire on August 18

If you updated your iPhone, iPad, iPod or Apple TV to the latest iOS 5 Beta 3 release, you need to know that, according to iH8Sn0w, it will expire on August 18, 2011 at 8pm EST.

So what will happen at that time? Well, your iPhone might explode, your iPad will implode, and your Apple TV will fly back to its original factory in China. More seriously, I'd assume that it wouldn't let you use your device until it's updated to a newer beta or maybe even the official firmware...

TinyUmbrella Updated for iOS 5 Beta 3 [Save Your SHSH Now]

A quick update to let you know that Notcom has updated TinyUmbrella to version 5.00.04 with iOS 5 Beta 3 support. This update also seems to fix a visual bug that some users may have encountered in the previous version.

As usual, we recommend you download TinyUmbrella and save your SHSH blobs asap to avoid being locked out in the future. Obviously, if you're not a jailbreaker, you shouldn't care about TinyUmbrella...

AT&T Makes International Data Plans “a Bit Less Very Expensive”

If you're planning to travel overseas with your AT&T iPhone, you've probably already looked into international data plans, and figured out it was a complete rip off. And yes, you are right, international data usage on AT&T will cost you an arm and a leg.

In order to make this slightly less ridiculously expensive, AT&T has revamped its international data plan options, basically doubling their offering while keeping the same prices. It's still way overpriced, but at least you get more data...

RedSn0w 0.9.8 Beta 2 Fixes Issues with iOS 5 Beta 3 Jailbreak

Earlier today when Apple released iOS 5 beta 3, the news quickly came out that you could use the latest version of RedSn0w to jailbreak the new beta firmware. Indeed, by pointing RedSn0w to iOS 5 beta 1, you are able to jailbreak beta 3.

However, an unexpected issue rapidly surfaced. After jailbreaking iOS 5 beta 3 with RedSn0w, it appeared that some App Store applications were not running properly. The Dev Team was quick to fix this issue and just released RedSn0w 0.9.8 beta 2...

20 New Tones Available in iOS 5 Beta 3 [Updated]

Apple released iOS 5 Beta 3 earlier today, and as usual when a new build is available, we are tracking down every cool new feature. I just found out about this new one while playing around the Settings app for my iPad.

If you go to Settings > General > Sounds and select "Text Tone," for example, you will be offered many more tones to choose from. I'm not 100% sure how many of these tones are new. but it seems to me that iOS 5 Beta 3 gives us access to 20 more tones...

Cydia Upgrade Fixes JailbreakMe Bugs and Camera Connection Kit Issue

Those of you who have been experiencing bugs after using JailbreakMe will be glad to find out that Comex made some fixes to the kernel patches for the userland jailbreak, and these fixes have been pushed as an "Essential Upgrade" in Cydia.

To get this update, simply launch Cydia and you should be prompted to upgrade. Make sure you do not run JailbreakMe again over your current jailbreak. Instead, let Cydia do the job for you...

RedSn0w Can Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 3

Good news for jailbreakers who happen to have a legit (or not) developer account and want to jailbreak the latest iOS 5 beta 3 firmware released earlier today. According to a tweet from MuscleNerd a few minutes ago, you can use RedSn0w to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 3.

In order to jailbreak your iDevice running iOS 5 beta 3, you will need to download the latest version of RedSn0w which was released about a month ago. All you need to do is point RedSnow to iOS 5 beta 1, instead of pointing it to beta 3...

Apple Releases iTunes 10.5 Beta 3

Following the release of iOS 5 beta 3 earlier today, Apple also updated iTunes to version 10.5 beta 3. Needless to say that this update is for developers only, although it seems stable enough for anyone to use, assuming you know where to get it.

If you just downloaded iOS 5 beta 3, you will need to install iTunes 10.5 beta 3 in order to install the latest iOS version on your device. From what I see, iTunes 10.5 beta 3 is safe for jailbreakers so there is nothing to worry on that side...

How to Bypass Time Warner Cable App Restriction on Jailbroken iPads

Last week we told you about how Time Warner Cable was restricting owners of jailbroken iPads to use their application. If you launch their app on a jailbroken iPad, you will get a message informing you that "TWCable TV is not supported on jailbroken devices."

At the time, I speculated that this measure was to prevent non TWC subscriber to use the application, and I still believe this is the reason behind the block. As usual, the jailbreak community was quick to react and a .deb file was made available on the same day, allowing jailbroken iPads to use the app anyway...
