How to add a pull-to-refresh gesture to Cydia

Pull-to-refresh has become quite ubiquitous when it comes to iOS apps, and now Cydia can join in on the fun. The just released TweaksRefresher brings true pull-to-refresh functionality to Cydia.

TweaksRefresher requires Cydia 1.1.19 or higher, which famously made it so that Cydia Substrate tweaks could modify it. Once you install TweaksRefresher, a free release on the BigBoss repo, there are no options or settings to configure—just install it and go.

SafariSwiper: a new jailbreak tweak that lets you swipe between Safari tabs

Wouldn't it be nice if you could swipe between Safari tabs like Google Chrome on iOS? SafariSwiper is a new tweak that brings such functionality to reality.

Installable from Cydia's BigBoss repo free of charge, SafariSwiper is a legitimate option for those of you who wish to have a way to navigate between tabs in a faster manner. Watch our brief demo Vine video to see what I mean.

TaiG 2.3.1 officially released and no longer in beta

TaiG has elevated its latest jailbreak tool out of beta and are now promoting it as a public download. Version 2.3.1 of the TaiG tool's most notable change is its inclusion of the latest version of Cydia, version 1.1.20. Actually, this is apparently the only change contained within TaiG 2.3.1, as we noted in our overview of the 2.3.1 beta release a few days ago.

How to make Cydia purchases with PayPal’s 2-Factor Authentication

Now that Amazon Payments is no longer an option for purchases in Cydia, users are forced to use PayPal, at least for the time being. Saurik has noted that he plans on offering an alternative to Cydia, but until that day comes, users are forced to use PayPal.

The problem with PayPal, is that you cannot make a payment via Cydia if you have 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on your PayPal account. You'll simply receive an error message stating that you need to add your security key to the end of the password in order to login. This, unfortunately, doesn't work, leaving users who haven't set up the initial auth with PayPal unable to purchase Cydia tweaks.

This issue is due to the mobile PayPal interface presented while inside Cydia. If you can bring your authorization outside of Cydia and into mobile safari, you can invoke the desktop interface and login to PayPal that way. Thankfully, a new jailbreak tweak makes this easy.

How to get Android-inspired cellular signal and Wi-Fi status bar icons

After my last few screenshots and videos, I've received numerous questions on Twitter, via email, and via the comments section about my status bar icons. More specifically, people are dying to know how I was able to get those cool-looking Android L-inspired cellular signal and Wi-Fi signal icons.

These icons are added to the status bar by means of a WinterBoard theme downloadable for free from Cydia. In this post, I'll show you how you can add them to your iPhone.

10 Cydia sources to try for the iOS 8.4 jailbreak

The default Cydia repos hold the majority of the awesome jailbreak apps and tweaks that we all know and love, but from time to time, you'll need to use a third-party source for certain Cydia packages. Some third-party repos, like Ryan Petrich's beta repo, are one of the first things I add after jailbreaking my iPhone. Other repos aren't nearly as necessary, but still nice to have available.

In this post, I'll share with you 10 different third-party Cydia sources that you can add to Cydia to gain access to additional apps, tweaks, and themes. I'll also showcase one tweak from each repo that makes it worth consideration.

Report states that Apple Watch sales face a major decline, but take it with a grain of salt

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Slice Intelligence, is reporting that Apple Watch sales (US only) are facing a significant slowdown, as noted by MarketWatch this afternoon. Per Slice, the Apple Watch has gone from a peak of around 200,000 units a day right around launch, to under 20,000 units a day.

Obviously, this sort of data isn't based on cold hard facts—only Apple itself would be able to provide us with 100% accurate numbers—but this kind of report does put a gloomy cloud over the Apple Watch.

Should Apple be worried? It's simply way too early to tell right now.

But one must remember that, unlike its iPhone and iPads, the Apple Watch is a brand new product category, and Apple has been met with significant supply chain constraints. Remember, it wasn't that long ago when you couldn't even walk into a store and buy one.

iOS 8.3 is no longer being signed by Apple

Wishing to downgrade (or upgrade) to iOS 8.3? If so, you're too late, as Apple just stopped signing iOS 8.3.

As has been the trend lately, Apple tends to continue signing older firmware even after new firmware—such as last week's iOS 8.4—has been out for a while. This time, a full week passed before Apple closed the doors on iOS 8.3.

How to get Apple Watch-styled Lock screen notifications on your iPhone

WatchNotifications is a brand new jailbreak tweak from developer Thomas Finch, that seeks to better unify the look of notifications on Apple Watch and iPhone. It does this by mimicking the look of Apple Watch notifications on your iPhone's Lock screen.

Available for $1.00 on Cydia's BigBoss repo, if you prefer the look of the notifications on your Apple Watch, then you'll most certainly be interested in WatchNotifications.

Nella lets you customize the Cydia install interface

Another day, another new Cydia customization tweak. I guess this will continue to be the new trend for the foreseeable future, not that I'm complaining at all.

It's great to have tweaks that can finally customize Cydia without jumping through a ton of hoops. Nella is the latest such tweak. It lets you customize the colors of the installation interface background and buttons for a truly unique look.
