BlackBerry Messenger for iOS user guide posts ahead of launch

While people may not be interested in BlackBerry handsets, there is one product release a lot of folks seem to be looking forward to: BlackBerry Messenger for iOS and Android. The company confirmed earlier this year that the apps are in the works.

CEO Thorsten Heins has since said that the cross-platform Messenger software will be out before the end of the summer, which is rapidly approaching. But we must be getting close to launch, because BlackBerry just posted user guides for the two apps...

China Telecom thanks iPhone for second-straight quarterly profit gain

It's believed that with strong competition from Samsung and other handset makers, the iPhone isn't as big of a draw for consumers as it once was. Some carriers have even stopped offering the phone, figuring it's no longer worth the hassle.

But ask providers like T-Mobile or China Telecom, and it's a completely different story. T-Mobile just posted its strongest consumer growth in 4 years last quarter on the back of its iPhone launch, and China Telecom is seeing similar results...

New photos show alleged gold iPhone 5S next to black, white iPhone 5

Some new photos hit the web tonight, showing what is believed to be an iPhone 5S shell in a gold/champagne color next to black and white versions of the iPhone 5. If legitimate, the photos reaffirm recent speculation that Apple will offer its new handset in three colors.

Talk of a golden iPhone reached a fever pitch earlier this week, following a number of reports and corroborating part leaks. And while many have scoffed at the idea of Apple releasing such a gaudy-looking device, others believe that the champagne color will be a hit...

Apple seeds OS X Mavericks developer preview 6

Apple has seeded the 6th developer preview of OS X Mavericks this afternoon. The download comes exactly two weeks after developer preview 5 dropped, which added both the Mac iBooks app and a new version of iPhoto beta.

The newest Mavericks preview comes alongside the final build of OS X 10.8.5, and is now available for download in either the Mac App Store, as a software update, or through Apple's Mac Dev Center, to all registered developers...

Ten One Design introduces new magnetic stand for iPad mini

I'm not what you would call a 'stand kind of person.' I don't have a dock for my iPhone 5, and I'm not sure where the chintzy little tripod thing is that I bought for my iPad a few years back. I just never used it.

If I was in the market for something like that, though, I'd consider this new Magnus Mini stand from Ten One Design. It sports a very minimalistic design, and it uses magnets to hold your iPad mini into place...

Google’s Adsense and YouTube apps feature unified account sign-in

If you've recently downloaded Google's new Adsense app, and the latest version of the YouTube app, you may have noticed that you didn't have to sign into both of them—just one or the other. That's because they feature new unified account sign-ins.

Several users have noticed that Google has switched on shared account logins for the latest version of its YouTube app, as well as Adsense. This means that logging into one will automatically log you into the other without the need to enter account info...

EA and Mythic bringing cult classic ‘Dungeon Keeper’ to iOS this winter

EA has been very busy this week, announcing its new 'Heroes Of Dragon Age' RPG, and offering up details on FIFA 14. And it's not slowing down; today it announced it's teaming up with Mythic Entertainment on a new strategy title.

The game will be a reboot of the cult classic Dungeon Keeper, a popular strategy title from the late 1990's that involves building up a dungeon and protecting it from invaders. And it'll be landing on both iOS and Android this winter...

AT&T to offer refurbished iPhone 3GS models to GoPhone customers

AT&T will soon start offering refurbished iPhone 3GS models to prepaid GoPhone customers, according to a new report from MacRumors. The device will be sold full retail to those that don't qualify for a subsidized phone.

Quoting an anonymous tipster, the site says that the handset won't be openly available. Apparently the phones won't even be displayed publicly, but sales reps will be able to offer them to certain price-sensitive customers...

The news comes as the company finishes up its large-scale summer LTE expansion of 78 markets. In fact, it'll round out its itinerary this week as it launches the 4G service in Georgetown, SC and several other areas...

WSJ: Vevo music video channel could land on Apple TV this week

Earlier this month, a report surfaced claiming that music video website Vevo is developing an application for Apple TV that offers access to its 24-7 music video channel. But at the time, there were no other information available.

The Wall Street Journal has dug a little deeper, though, and offers up some new details on the story. The outlet says that Vevo has indeed inked a deal with Apple, and the app could launch on the Apple TV as soon as this week...

Apple TV updated with live streaming channel for upcoming iTunes Festival

Back in May, Apple announced details for its upcoming iTunes Festival. The company has been sponsoring the event, which consists of a monthlong series of free concerts from high-profile artists, for the past five years.

This year's Festival is going to be held at The Roundhouse in London, during the month of September. And as Apple prepares for the festivities, it has posted a streaming channel to Apple TV, and updated the iOS app...
