Find out how to share a customized lyrics card of your favorite Spotify song to your WhatsApp Status, so you can show friends what you’re listening to or express how you’re feeling.
WhatsApp now allows you to share song lyrics from Apple Music and Spotify directly to your status.
Unlike Apple Music lyrics sharing, which offers no customization, the Spotify app lets you personalize the lyric card by changing the text style, choosing a background color, adding an album art image, and applying stickers.
There are more than one way to initiate Spotify lyrics sharing to WhatsApp status, and we’ll tell you about them all. But before you do that, be sure to update WhatsApp and Spotify on your iPhone or Android phone.
Share from the lyrics screen
This method lets you go through the full song lyrics and select exactly what you want to share on WhatsApp. The other two methods below don’t give you this level of fine control.
1) Open Spotify on your iPhone, play a song, and go to the Now Playing screen.
2) Tap the Lyrics preview card at the bottom, then swipe up a bit, and tap Show lyrics to see them on a big screen.
3) Tap the share icon.
4) Now, tap the text blocks you want to share. The selected text is in a dark background, while the text with a light background before or after the selected text is what you can potentially select. You can usually select up to 4 sentences. After that, tap Continue.
5) You’ll see a lyrics card here. If it looks nice to you, just tap Status > Allow Paste to share it. Or, tap the Edit lyrics button to customize the card.
Here are all the customization options you can use:
- Color: Tap it, then select a color gradient.
- Images: Select from one of the available album arts. You can choose either Color or Image, not both.
- Text: Use it to customize the lyrics font. You can choose a font style (Classic, Wide, Narrow, Slanted), change the alignment (left, right, center), or case style (uppercase or lowercase).
- Stickers: Add some simple stickers to the lyrics card.
Then tap the Done button, select Status, and the WhatsApp app will open on your phone. Tap Allow Paste if prompted and post it to WhatsApp for your friends and family to see.
People who view your WhatsApp status will be able to see the lyrics card and, with a couple of taps, listen to that song in the Spotify app on their phone.
Use the screenshot method
When you take a screenshot in Spotify, it automatically brings up a share card that you can customize and set as your WhatsApp status. Here’s how:
- Open the Spotify app on your iPhone, play a song, and go to the Now Playing screen.
- Make sure you’re on the spot in the song from where you want to share the lyrics.
- Take a screenshot using the physical buttons, AssistiveTouch, Back Tap, or other means.
- You’ll see two cards; swipe to the one with the lyrics. Edit it if needed (follow the same steps as in the previous heading), and tap Status to share it on WhatsApp.
Use the share button
This method involves using the share button on Spotify’s Now Playing screen.
- Play a song on Spotify and go to the Now Playing screen.
- Tap the three-dot menu icon at the top and ensure Lyrics is on.
- Next, make sure you’re at the desired spot in the song from where you want to share the lyrics.
- Tap the share icon.
- Swipe to the lyrics card, edit it if needed, and select Status from the share pane to post it to WhatsApp.
