Let your family, friends, or someone special know how you feel by posting the favorite part of a song’s lyrics from Apple Music directly to your WhatsApp Status on iPhone.
Meta (the parent company for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) has long supported sharing Apple Music lyrics to Instagram Story. With the latest WhatsApp update, the same feature is now also available for WhatsApp Status.
You can easily share a few sentences (up to 149 characters, to be exact) of a song lyric as a beautiful card. People who view your WhatsApp Status can see the shared lyric text and also choose to play the song in Apple Music with a couple of taps.
Make sure you have an active Apple Music subscription, and follow the quick steps below.
Share Apple Music Lyrics to your WhatsApp Status
1) Update WhatsApp on your iPhone from the iOS App Store.
2) Open the Music app on your iPhone, play the song, and go to the Now Playing screen.
3) Tap the three dots menu icon and select Share Lyrics.
4) Tap the lyric sentence blocks you want to share. You can only share up to 149 characters. Plus, the selected lyric text should be adjacent to one another.
5) After selecting the lyrics, tap the new WhatsApp Status option, which should automatically open the WhatsApp app on your iPhone. Tap Allow Paste if prompted.
6) You’ll see your selected lyrics and the song card as your WhatsApp status. Use two-finger pinch in and out to decrease or increase the size of the card. Use one finger to move it anywhere on the screen.
7) Optionally, tap the music icon at the top to set the portion of the song that auto-plays when people view your status. You can also use the stickers, text, and sketch tools at the top if needed.
8) Add a caption if you want and tap the send button.
Your friends and family will see the lyrics and the song card. The auto-selected or what-you-set (step 7) portion of the song will play automatically when they are viewing your status. They can also tap anywhere on the card to play the song in Apple Music on their iPhone or Android phone, provided they have a subscription.
Share an Apple Music song (without the lyrics) to your WhatsApp status
You may come across songs whose lyrics are unsharable; as a result, you won’t find the Share Lyrics option when you tap the share icon. Such songs usually have no lyrics (the lyrics button will be grayed out) or the old lyrics interface in small text (see the screenshots below).
In these cases, you can share the song itself (without the lyrics) by tapping the share icon and selecting WhatsApp Status from the row of apps in your iPhone Share Sheet.
