SanDisk to preview world’s first 4TB SDUC UHS-I card & more at NAB Show 2024

Think you might be needing some larger capacity SD or microSD cards at some point in the future? If so, then you might consider waiting for SanDisk, one of the world’s leaders in flash memory and storage, to launch some groundbreaking new offerings.

SanDisk’s upcoming world’s first Extreme Pro 4TB UHS-I SD card.

Launching this Summer at the brand’s website and at select retail locations are a pair of 2TB memory cards in both the SDXC and microSDXC form factors, with each carrying a UHS-I speed class rating.

According to SanDisk, its 2TB Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I memory card is a first of its kind in the industry and offers more storage space for today’s demanding high-resolution images and 4K UHD videos.

It’s 2TB Extreme Pro microSDXC UHS-I memory card is a first for SanDisk’s parent brand Western Digital, but also notably the world’s fastest 2TB UHS-I microSD card. Perfect for demanding high-resolution applications, such as action cameras and drones, this memory card is ready to handle tons of data on demand.

But if speed isn’t your top priority, and storage space is, then just hold your horses because SanDisk will also be launching a monstrous 4TB Extreme Pro SDUC UHS-I memory card at some point in 2025.

SanDisk says that this will be the world’s first 4TB UHS-I SD card and that it manages this feat by leveraging the Secure Digital Ultra Capacity (SDUC) standard, which should (in theory) make SD cards as large as 128TB possible in the future.

SanDisk will be previewing all of these products to attendees of NAB 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend, but this will only be a sneak peak ahead of the official product launch dates mentioned for each above.

As these products have yet to be officially released, their prices are still unknown. On the other hand, as this is pioneering technology, we expect to see large price tags that may leave a quite few wallets too shy to pounce.

In any case, it’s great to see SD and microSD storage media companies continuing to improve storage capacities as cameras push the boundary of what’s possible with high-resolution images and videos.
