Just over half a year ago, we showed you a jailbreak tweak called Dynamic Stage by iOS developer tomt000 that brought iPad-class split view multitasking experience to jailbroken iPhones.
Dynamic Stage was a hit, especially on larger-screened devices that could take better advantage of it. But today, the developer took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that Dynamic Stage was being updated to work with jailbroken iOS 16 devices – bringing it up to speed with the modern jailbreak community.
The latest update, dubbed version 1.1, brings the following changes and improvements over the initial release:
– Initial iOS 16 Support
– Pinned Applications (With pagination support)
– Recent Apps count customization
– Changed internal gesture system
– (Old gesture system available as an option in Settings)
– Added a background on minimize app behavior option
– Fixed status bar color in settings in light mode (iOS 15)
– Fixed layout on home button devices
– Fixed “Trim” tweak bottom bar cutting
– Fixed possible hit-box problems
There are, however, four known limitations that come with Dynamic Stage, and those include not being able to use the Camera while the app is in the Stage, keyboard behavior can vary from one app to another, Stage doesn’t work in landscape orientation, and that the tweak isn’t optimized for Home Button-equipped devices.
I’m not the first person to say this, but Dynamic Stage feels like it was made by Apple, not a jailbreak tweak developer. The animations are so smooth and natural that you’d think this wasn’t a hack. We wouldn’t be surprised if Apple tried to copy something like this in a future iteration of iOS, as they often do with blockbuster jailbreak tweak ideas.
I easily consider Dynamic Stage to be one of the most influential jailbreak tweaks released in the past year, and it certainly falls in my top-ten favorite jailbreak tweaks for iOS 16. Thanks to the newfangled iOS 16 support, you can now use Dynamic Stage on jailbroken versions of iOS 16 via palera1n or the Dopamine v2 jailbreak. Before today, the tweak already supported pwned installations of iOS 14 and 15, and it still does to this day.
