Dopamine jailbreak developer Lars Fröder to present at Zer0con 2024

If you, like so many other jailbreakers, enjoy the experience of listening to jailbreak makers speak at special events, then you might be interested in knowing that Dopamine jailbreak lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) will give a talk at Zer0con 2024.

Dopamine lead developer Lars Fröder to talk at Zer0con 2024.

The announcement first shared by @POC_crew on X (formerly Twitter), and then re-posted by Fröder himself, confirms that Fröder’s talk entitled “How to jailbreak iOS 16” will be a part of the event.

Zer0con 2024, which will happen at the Fairmont Ambassador Hotel in Seoul, South Korea from Thursday, April 4th to Friday, April 5th, is an international security conference where esteemed security researchers can discuss their work in detailed presentations.

According to the Zer0con website, the event is considered a high level and closed conference in which attendees can expect to find, analyze, and exploit vulnerabilities. Speakers, attendees, and sponsors will share information about vulnerabilities, but due to the closed nature of the event, it seems unlikely that it will be streamed and publicized like similar events have been.

There is a vetting process to attend Zer0con. But given Fröder’s experience with developing Dopamine — not only the first iteration based on Linus Henze’s Fugu15 developer jailbreak, but also version 2, which added support for newer firmware by way of the Kernel File Descriptor (KFD) exploit and the Operation Triangulation PPL bypass – it comes as no surprise that he will give the first talk.

Zer0con, which has been happening since at least 2017, is also known for its training courses, which can help attendees learn to become better at hunting vulnerabilities and exploiting them. The event’s purpose for existing is not only for sharing information, but for helping security researchers hone their skills.

It will be interesting to see what Fröder shares in his presentation, and also whether any of the resources shared at the event will go on to further jailbreaking in any way.
