If you’re jailbreaking an iOS 16 device with the Dopamine v2 jailbreak, and one of the first things on your agenda is to remove the Home Screen’s pill-shaped Search button that typically appears where the Home Screen’s page dots normally appear, then there’s a new jailbreak tweak for that.
Say hello to NoSearchPill, a free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer iCraze that removes the pill-shaped Search pill from the Home Screen on iOS 16 devices as to remove an element that may otherwise come off as additional clutter to folks who don’t regularly use it.
In the before and after screenshot examples above, NoSearchPill simply removes this unwanted element from the Home Screen for users who don’t want it. As a single-purpose jailbreak tweak, NoSearchPill doesn’t have any options to configure and just gets to work once installed on your device.
If you do happen to use the Home Screen’s pill-shaped Search button on a regular basis, then you simply wouldn’t install this jailbreak tweak, which leaves it fully intact and functional.
As for who would use a tweak like this, I think it benefits those who try to customize their Home Screen layout and where the button could either come off as superfluous or as a nuisance to the layout you’re creating; I.E. sitting in the way of something.
Minimalists will also likely appreciate removing something that you can already easily access by swiping down anywhere on the Home Screen.
