New OCD (Obsessive Color Disorder) jailbreak tweak tastefully colorizes app badges & icon labels

I’m a big fan of jailbreak tweaks that modify the appearance of the stock iOS & iPadOS user interface, and perhaps that’s one of the reasons why I’m excited about a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called OCD (Obsessive Color Disorder) by iOS developer b4db1r3.

OCD (Obsessive Color Disorder) examples.

As described by the developer in a post shared to /r/jailbreak, OCD supports rootless jailbreaks such as Dopamine and the RootHide version of Dopamine (not the RootHide bootstrap for TrollStore) and it allows you to colorize your Home Screen’s app icon labels and notification badges.

In the screenshots above, you can see examples of how the tweak colorizes the Home Screen’s app icon labels and notification badges. You’re able to colorize not only the background of the badges, but the border as well.

As it would appear, OCD picks colors for your notification badges and app icon labels automatically based on the icons those notifications and labels represent. Users can’t change the colors, but they can pick color schemes and configure borders for a more vibrant effect.

Once installed, OCD puts a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure a few different options to your liking:

Things you can do here include:

  • Enable or disable OCD on demand
  • Enable or disable the badge border background
  • Adjust the badge corner radius via a slider
  • Choose your preferred badge color scheme:
    • Extra light
    • Light
    • Dark
    • Ultra
    • Thin
    • Thick
    • Chrome
    • None
    • And more…

The developer notes in the preference pane that a respring is required to save your changes.

If you’re interested in giving the new OCD jailbreak tweak a try, then you can acquire it free of charge from b4db1r3’s personal repository via your favorite package manager app. The URL for that repository if you’re not already using it is as follows:

Please note that OCD only supports rootless jailbreaks on iOS & iPadOS 15, 16, and 17 and will not work with the RootHide bootstrap or with Serotonin at this time.
