TrollStar TrollStore installer updated to v1.2 with UI improvements, now fully open source

It was only last week that we shared the news about iOS developer Huy Nguyen (@Little_34306) creating a standalone TrollStoreinstaller tool for arm64e devices (A12+) running iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.6.1 called TrollStar. But as of this week, TrollStar is undergoing some rather significant changes.

TrollStar v1.2 announced.

Nguyen took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the release of TrollStar version 1.2, and while the update itself isn’t a particularly large update (comprising mostly of user interface improvements), it’s worth noting that the project has been fully open sourced as of this release.

As for what’s new in TrollStar version 1.2, the changes are mostly cosmetic to improve the user experience. For example, a typo has been fixed in one of the pop-ups displayed while installing TrollStore and the “kopen” button has been replaced with a “Click here to start!” button to reduce confusion for end users.
TrollStar leverages the power of the Kernel File Descriptor (kfd) exploit, paired with the puaf_landa method, to work its magic.

If you’ve already used TrollStar to install TrollStore, then you don’t really need to worry about updating to the latest version because it has already served its purpose. In fact, you can probably just delete TrollStar after using it to install TrollStore.

But if you haven’t used TrollStar before, then it’s highly recommended that you use the latest available version prior to installing TrollStore so that you have the best user experience possible when moving forward with this tool.

To use TrollStar, you will need to acquire the .ipa file from the project’s GitHub page and then sideload it onto your compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 16.0-16.6.1 with AltStore. Once sideloaded, the installation process is relatively straightforward.

TrollStore, a byproduct of TrollStar, is a perma-signing utility that allows you to permanently install and sign .ipa files on your iPhone or iPad without having to re-sign those apps once every seven days as you would regularly need to do with sideloading apps such as AltStore or Sideloadly.

Have you downloaded and installed the latest version of TrollStar yet? Be sure to let us know why or why not in the comments section down below.
