Install iOS 17.2.1, iPadOS 17.2.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 to get security patches

Aside from unspecified bug fixes and security patches, there are no new user features in iOS 17.2.1, iPadOS 17.2.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1.

To get iOS 17.2.1 on your iPhone and iPadOS 17.2.1 on your iPad, go to Settings > General > Software Update and follow the onscreen instructions to download and install an over-the-air update.

To update your Mac to macOS 17.2.1, click the Apple menu and choose System Settings, then select General in the sidebar, click Software Update on the right and hit the Upgrade Now button.

Apple’s release notes accompanying the updates are not very informative, only mentioning “important bug fixes and security updates.” As always, Apple recommends that all users install these updates onto their devices.

These bug-fix updates arrived a few days after iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, macOS Sonoma 14.2 and more dropped with more than a dozen new features, including the Journal app, tweaks in stock apps like Messages, AutoFill for PDFs, etc. Apple is also testing iOS 17.3, which should launch to the public around March 2024.
