DynamicCowTS enables the Dynamic Island on notched iOS 16 devices via TrollStore 2

Almost a year ago, iOS developer matteozappia discovered a way to enable the Dynamic Island on notched iPhones running iOS 16.0-16.1.2 via the MacDirtyCow exploit.

The add-on was a hit, which is why we’re so excited to share that this just week, the same developer has just released a new version of the add-on called DynamicCowTS that works with any iPhone running iOS 16.0-16.6.1 and 17.0.

DynamicCowTS works by using TrollStore 2, a CoreTrust exploit-based perma-signing utility for apps that recently added support for newer firmware to an long-popular platform.

DynamicCowTS enables the Dynamic Island on your notched iPhone running supported firmware. With it, you get the full Dynamic Island experience, complete with interactive Dynamic Island widgets, pop-ups, and activity-based animations.

As you can see for yourself in the screenshot examples above and below, you can choose between iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max resolutions and perform troubleshooting actions or respring your device:

As far as hardware is concerned, the Dynamic Island is unique for the iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max and later, but the software features are fully-portable to earlier devices, which appears to be the intent of DynamicCowTS.

DynamicCowTS only supports iOS 16 and later because the iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max shipped with iOS 16 and older versions of iOS lack the resources and dependencies to get the Dynamic Island to work. That said, the developer warns against installing DynamicCowTS on firmware older than iOS 16 because it could have ill consequences such as boot-looping your device.

If you have a compatible device running iOS 16.0-16.6.1 or 17.0, and you also have TrollStore 2 installed on that device, then you can go ahead on over to the project’s GitHub page to download the .ipa file and perma-sign it on your device to take advantage of the Dynamic Island-esque features on your notched handset.

No jailbreak is required to use DynamicCowTS, but if you happen to be jailbroken, you can still use it.
