Get the Status Bar you want with Joutai for MacDirtyCow & kfd devices

It seems to be the week of Status Bar customization. We just showed you an add-on for TrollStore-capable and jailbroken devices called Helium, and it also just so happens that there’s a new add-on for the MacDirtyCow & kfd exploits called Joutai by iOS developer roeegh.

Joutai, instead of adding information below the Status Bar, uses the different approach of replacing a user’s unwanted Status Bar information with something else that they may want instead.

As shown above, the add-on works both in the regular Status Bar and in the enlarged version displayed when Control Center is open.

When you install Joutai, you will find a dedicated selection of settings in the Misaka app where you can configure Status Bar items however you want:

Joutai preference pane.

Things that you can do here include:

  • Replacing the Time indicator
  • Replacing the Battery detail indicator
  • Replacing the primary carrier indicator
  • Replacing the secondary carrier indicator
  • Replacing the Breadcrumb links
  • …With any of the following:
    • Default
    • Weather
    • Battery
    • Memory
    • Storage space
    • IP address
  • Configure the Weather display:
    • Hide or show Weather condition Emoji
    • Hide or show Lunar phase Emoji
    • Hide or show temperature
    • Use Celsius
  • Configure the memory module:
    • Show free memory
    • Show used memory
    • Show system memory
    • Show total memory
    • Show memory in gigabytes
  • Configure the storage module:
    • Show free storage

    • Show storage in gigabytes

  • Configure a data update interval via a slider (default 2 hours)

Joutai doesn’t require a jailbreak to be installed, as it’s an add-on intended for the MacDirtyCow exploit for iOS 15.0-16.1.2 and the kfd exploit for iOS 16.0-16.6 beta 1. Having said that, you can find the add-on via the Misaka package manager app.

If you’re not already using Misaka, then you can follow one of our step-by-step tutorials below to get started with it:

  • How to perma-sign Misaka on iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1 with TrollStore
  • How to sideload Misaka on any firmware with Sideloadly
