Our friends at Nomad are out with another couple of exciting new products this week called the Leather Folio and Leather Folio Plus, each of which elevate the user experience of the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablets from Apple.
These full-grain leather folios maintain the iPad Pro’s slim design while safely nestling your tablet in a felt microfiber interior. Adding to the premium feel is the use of magnets to attach to your iPad Pro and to clasp shut, a feature that works with the tablet’s native sleep/wake functionality.
Nomad’s Leather Folio and Leather Folio Plus are made from the same materials, but what sets them apart is a special flap at the top that helps keep the folio closed and wraps around your Apple Pencil to act as additional retention. The regular Folio lacks this flap, but still works with the Apple Pencil.
As it would appear, the product works well with the Apple Pencil 2, the brand-new Apple Pencil (USB-C), and ZAGG’s Pro Stylus 2.
Nomad’s Leather Folio and Leather Folio Plus come in both black and brown leather and evoke similar vibes as Apple’s own Smart Folio, however the more premium materials set them apart from the first-party option by resisting much of the wear and tear that Apple’s silicone accessories are prone to.
The similar design means that the Nomad Leather Folio and Leather Folio Plus each feature a kickstand to help you stand your iPad upright on a table or desk:
The timing couldn’t have been better for leather aficionados either. Apple just this year started getting out of the leather accessory-making business and replacing those accessories with the controversial FineWoven line of cases and Apple Watch straps. This move left a massive vacuum for smaller companies like Nomad to fill.
If you’re interested in a Nomad Leather Folio, then it’s available on Nomad’s website for $120 for the 11-inch iPad Pro or $140 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
The Nomad Leather Folio Plus, which touts the additional flap at the top, is also available on Nomad’s website, but for $130 for the 11-inch iPad Pro or $150 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
