iPhone 15 Pros are Apple’s most pro phones ever: Features, specs, colors, prices, etc.

Apple has unveiled the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max with new computational photography features that makes full use of the new A17 Bionic chip.

Here are the key figures of the iPhone 15 Pros:

  • Stronger, lighter and more durable grade 5 titanium (the same alloy used on the Mars Rover) instead of the stainless steel with textured matte finish, making these the lightest Pro models ever
  • Thinnest borders ever
  • The ring/silent switch has been replaced by an Apple Watch Ultra-like Action button with a myriad of programmable tasks or sets of actions that can be triggered with a quick button press.
  • The Super Retina XDR display still uses ProMotion for dynamic refresh rates up to 120 Hz. And yes, this is still an always-on display.
  • 6.1 inches for the iPhone 15 Pro and 6.7 inches for the iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • Apple’s new A17 Bionic chip, the industry’s first 3nm processor, brings a 6-core CPU with the performance cores that are up to 10 precent faster than before (the efficiency cores are also a bit faster).
  • The Neural engine is 2x faster, performing up to 35 trillion operations per second, powering machine learning and artificial intelligence tasks
  • Av1 decoded for stream services
  • A brand new GPU with an Apple-designed shared architecture sports six cores and brings 20 faster graphics performance. The GPU has new rendering features, too, and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for enhanced visuals in games with 4x faster performance than software-based ray tracing on the previous A16 Bionic.
  • The A17 has 19 billion transistors
  • The rear cameras produce imaging results that are the equivalent of seven camera lenses, Apple claims. The main camera is still 48 megapixels but has a larger sensor and uses a new coating to minimize light refractions. You can now shoot 48-megapixel images in the HEIFF format, in addition to the Apple ProRAW format.
  • Enhanced Portrait mods deliver 2x better light performance
  • Night Mode is now powered by the Photonic Engine, bringing out more detail
  • 3x telephoto camera like before on the iPhone 15 Pro and a new periscope lens for 5x optical zoom delivering a longer focal length that simulates a 120mm lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
  • USB3 transfer speeds
  • Record ProRES video directly to an external storage drive
  • 4K60 HDR ProRes for the first time
  • Capture stereoscopic video that Apple calls spatial video which can be viewed on the Vision Pro headset in all its glory (this feature will be available later this year).
  • A USB-C port instead of the Lighting connector for charging, transferring data and playing media. Support for the faster Qi2 wireless charging at up to 15W.
  • The new wireless networking technologies for faster streaming and device interactions, thanks to the second-generation of Apple’s U2 ultra-wide band chip. The chip powers features like enhanced HomePod integration and faster, more reliable device tracking via the Find My app.
  • The new Roadside Assistance via satellite feature works pretty much like Emergency SOS via satellite, launching in the United States with Triple A. Free for two years with your new iPhone 15 or iPhone15 Pro.
  • 4K60 HDR video out
  • iPhone Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB version, while the iPhone 15 Pro Mac will start at $1199 with 256GB pot storage
