Apple’s team recently sent media invitations to the upcoming September 12 event. For every event, a new invitation design is launched that some speculate to have hidden meanings. Interpreting or luckily guessing how the invitation designs predict or hint at upcoming hardware release is certain to give you short term fame. Apple’s September 12 event will mostly likely, and if history is a predictor of the future, feature an iPhone 15 announcement. The iPhone 15 is expected to come in four varieties, similar to the previous generation, including to “Plus” or “Max” sized handsets.
Expect new colors, or slight variations from last year on the iPhone 15 devices and perhaps something to replace Deep Purple on the Pro line up. Most importantly, the switch from Lightning to USB-C will be upon us. Apple unveiled the Lightning port 11 years ago, to-the-day of the upcoming event. A switch from the highly polished medical grade stainless steel frame to brush titanium is possible. This would bring the material in line with the Apple Watch Ultra.
There is a chance we also see updates to Apple Watch; however, major design refreshes are not anticipated for the wearable. Look for incremental updates to other iPhone connected devices as well, like AirPods for a small feature increase. AirPods could possibly also see the USB-C treatment, as they are so closely aligned with the iPhone.
