This new and free jailbreak tweak reverts your X app’s label to Twitter again

Whether you were a Twitter user or not, it’s unlikely that you missed all the front-page headlines about Elon Musk re-branding the social media platform as X and releasing a new logo and app icon to go along with it.

X app with Twitter label.

But if you’re an existing Twitter (now X) user, and you wish that the app on your Home Screen still appeared with the name X, then a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called TwitterLabelBack by iOS developer CydiaGeek could be right up your alley.

Just as the name implies, this simple jailbreak tweak merely changes the name of the X app back to Twitter, as it always was. An example of this appears in the screenshot above.

While this doesn’t affect the function of the app in any way, it may help users who haven’t fully embraced the X rebrand, as well as those who now have trouble finding the app on their Home Screen after being used to searching for a blue Twitter bird after so many years and being shifted to a black X logo so abruptly.

I’ve personally found myself in the latter camp several times in the past week as I’ve just been so accustomed to finding the original Twitter app icon on my Home Screen to see what’s new, and just when I thought I had gotten used to the new app icon, the new “X” name throws me off… it takes me longer to find and open the app than before, and I can’t be alone.

If you’re interested in downloading and using the TwitterLabelBack jailbreak tweak for yourself, then you can acquire it for free from the YouRepo repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 14, 15, and 16 devices, including the rootless variety. There are no options to configure either.

Anyone who isn’t already using the YouRepo repository can add it to their package manager app by using the URL provided below:
