Change your Dock’s background with the Macaron jailbreak tweak

Have you been looking for a cool new way to customize your jailbroken iPhone’s Home Screen Dock? While Dock-centric jailbreak tweaks have been few and far in between lately, iOS developers straight_tamago and Sugiuta are out this week with a new add-on called Macaron that lets users set their Dock’s background as any image.

Macaron and options to configure.

As you can see in the screenshot example above, Macaron can give the Home Screen’s Dock an interesting look and feel, especially against certain wallpapers. Whether you’re looking to make your Dock stand out more, or you just want something more pleasant to look at, Macaron might have a use on your device.

Once installed, Macaron adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users are able to configure the following options to their liking:

  • Toggling the Macaron tweak on or off on demand
  • Choosing an image to use as the Dock’s background
  • Choosing a custom blur effect:
    • Default
    • Adaptive
    • Light
    • Dark
  • Adjusting the opacity level via a slider
  • And more…

While you might think that Macaron is only intended for still images, the developer reveals in the tweak’s depiction page that it is also GIF-compatible.

Macaron is compatible with both rootful and rootless iOS 15 and 16 jailbreaks including Dopamine and palera1n. Those who would like to give it a try can download it for free from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager app.
