There’s no set-in-stone rule for when Apple will start selling refurbished products of a previously launched device. Sometimes it’s pretty quickly after the initial release, and sometimes it takes a considerable chunk of time. Like, for example, the iPhone 12 mini, which is just now only going on sale as a refurbished product from Apple directly.
The iPhone 12 mini, the smallest iPhone variant of 2020, went on sale in October of that year. Which means we’re only a few months out from the phone being three years old. That’s quite the stretch between launch and going up as a refurbished product, to say the least.
But, hey, better late than never.
Even so, the options are very limited. While the iPhone 12 mini was available in a range of colors, including blue, purple, black, and green. It was also available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB variants. However, if you’re wanting to pick up Apple’s small iPhone at a discount, you can only choose the 128GB in black from Apple’s online refurbished storefront.
The refurbished iPhone 12 mini costs $579. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can also pick up the iPhone 12 mini as a new device, in the aforementioned parade of colors, for $649.
As is par for the course with a refurbished Apple product, the device comes with Apple’s standard one-year warranty, includes all accessories and manuals, a new outer shell and battery, and a new white box. The refurbished iPhone 12 mini is unlocked and SIM-free, and have been rigorously tested.
