Apple’s rumored mini-LED external display may not launch until early 2023

One of the more consistent rumors swirling around these days is that Apple is working on a brand new external display. The monitor, which may measure in at 27 inches, is said to be packed with features. Which could be one of the reasons it might not see the light of day until 2023.

Based on a report from MacRumors, based on information shared by Display Supply Chain Consultants analyst Ross Young, the upcoming mini-LED external display is now going to launch sometime in early 2023. Apparently the display was originally supposed to launch in June of this year, but the company missed that release window. That launch was rescheduled for sometime in October, but, the company will reportedly miss that date, too.

Now, according to Young, Apple is aiming for early next year. When that happens, the 27-inch mini-LED display will also reportedly boast ProMotion for a faster refresh rate. That will knock things up to 120Hz, which would be a welcomed addition.

The more interesting consideration at this point is the price. At 27 inches, this new external display could be similar to the existing Studio Display from Apple. That accessory retails for $1,599, which isn’t cheap! Adding a mini-LED panel and ProMotion support would likely hike up that price tag. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together next year.

If Apple does launch a mini-LED external monitor, would you buy it?
