Apple is now selling a $19 Polishing Cloth

When it comes to cleaning devices, there is always the (potentially) brief hesitation: are you doing this with the right product? Now, Apple has some support documents out there that are meant to help with that situation. For instance, the company has said in the past that folks should not use cleaners with hydrogen peroxide in them to clean their devices. However, it is okay to use disinfecting wipes to clean an iPhone. So, there are things to avoid and plenty of options you can use. And now there is one more.

Today, in what is technically the cheapest product Apple released today, the company has welcomed a “Polishing Cloth” to the online storefront. It’s available starting today, October 18, 2021. But if you do order today the earliest you’ll get it appears to be between October 26 and October 28, 2021, with free shipping. In-store pick-up is not available at the time of publication. However, that might change in the near future, so if you’re in the market for a polishing cloth but want to pick it up directly from an Apple retail store, keep an eye out.

As for the price, Apple’s listing it for $19.00.

Apple’s description of the Polishing Cloth is as brief as you’d probably expect. It says the accessory is made from, “soft, nonabrasive material.” But, you’ll be able to clean “any Apple display,” including a screen featuring Apple’s own nano-texture glass. From the landing page:

Made with soft, nonabrasive material, the Polishing Cloth cleans any Apple display, including nano-texture glass, safely and effectively.

Apple also has a list of the devices that are compatible with this Polishing Cloth. For the iPhone lineup it goes back as far as the first-generation iPhone SE and the iPhone 6. The first-generation iPad mini is supported, and you can go back as far as 2015 for some iMac models. You can clean every model of the Apple Watch, and if you have any iPod touch models dating back to the fourth-generation iPod shuffle, this cloth will get it clean.

So, not as exciting as, say, brand new MacBook Pro models, but at least the new Polishing Cloth doesn’t cost $50. And it has an Apple logo!
