The year of the Ox

The first day of the Lunar New Year—which is the beginning of a calendar year whose months are cycles of the moon—will be on Friday, February 12, which is the year of the Ox. The Ox is the second of the 12-year periodic cycle of animals that appear in the Chinese zodiac and related calendar systems. For those wondering, Ox is a Chinese word that refers to cows.
