Apple has joined TikTok

Even before there was a global coronavirus pandemic, TikTok was one of the most popular social media networks out there. So maybe it was always a matter of time before Apple got involved.

But it’s now official: Apple has joined TikTok. This does not appear to be a fake profile, either, as it’s been verified on the platform. However, at the time of publication Apple has not actually shared any content on TikTok just yet. And there’s no telling when that might actually change. At this point it looks like Apple is just laying the groundwork before things take off.

While Apple’s profile is live, it’s still new. There are fewer than 2,000 followers — but I imagine that’s going to change very soon.

What’s Apple going to do on TikTok? Well, that’s anyone’s guess at the moment. The platform has become popular thanks to the range of content that’s on there, all user-created and shared across social networks. You’ll see a lot of lip-sync singing and dancing, though. Producing content with the iPhone, especially part of the long running Shot on iPhone ad campaign, and sharing it on TikTok would seem like an easy thing for the company to do, maybe.

Or maybe this is just an empty account that won’t ever publish anything at all. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens!

There’s no way to argue just how popular TikTok has become, though, and it would make sense that Apple would want to jump on board. But maybe Apple’s just protecting its brand on the network and we won’t ever see anything come from it.

If Apple does start producing content for TikTok, what are you hoping to see?
