One of the interfaces iPhone users spend most of their time in is the Messages app, and with that in mind, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that jailbreak tweak developers are creating ways to make customizing the Messages app possible.
With the launch of a new tweak called Courier by iOS developer Sirius24, you can colorize several elements of the Messages app’s user interface just about any way you want. Some examples of the tweak at work are depicted in the screenshot samples above.
Upon installing Courier, users will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where they can configure the tweak to your liking:
Here, you can:
- Toggle Courier on or off on demand
- Enable or disable preset color schemes
- Colorize the Conversation list
- Colorize the Messaging interface

The elements that comprising of the conversation list that displays all your available conversations can be colorized individually. Those elements include:

- Navigation bar options button tint
- Navigation bar compose button
- Navigation bar compose button tint

Messaging Interface Colors
Users can also colorize the actual messaging interface itself. This is the interface that shows your messages to and from a specific person. Colorization options include:
- Message background
- Incoming bubble text
- Outgoing bubble text
- iMessage bubble
- SMS bubble
- Incoming bubble
- Messages info
According to a note at the bottom of the primary preference pane, a Respring isn’t totally necessary to save changes, but restarting the Messages app is. The developer still includes a Respring button anyway, just in case you’re old-fashioned like that.
