Apple seeds ninth watchOS 6 beta to developers

Apple has gone ahead and seeded the latest developer beta of watchOS 6.

On Tuesday, Apple seeded the ninth beta of watchOS 6 to developers. This is the latest prerelease version of the smartwatch software, meant to help developers test their apps (and test Apple’s software) ahead of its public launch later this year. As is par for the course, there are potentially major underlying issues with the software, so it’s not meant to be installed on a primary device.

watchOS 6 is a huge update for the smartwatch. It features an all-new App Store for starters, making it possible to download apps for the Apple Watch directly on the accessory rather than having to rely on the iPhone. There are new watch faces included, and the ability to remove some stock apps as well.

To update to watchOS 6, developers need to make sure that the Apple Watch is connected to its charger, has at least 50% battery life, and is within range and connected to the iPhone.

The new software is available now for developers to download and install on their registered device(s).
