Type Loop, Emoji Key, Danger Notes, and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps of the week

In this episode of our Apps of the Week roundup, we have a text animator, an emoji finder, and a notes app that promises to help you fight writer’s block. And as always, we’ve selected two great games for you to check out.

Type Loop

Bring your stories to life with Type Loop. The app allows you to create unique text animations with a variety of customizable motion presets and effects, and embed them into your photos. Features include dynamic typographic motion presets, unique effects and distortions, curated typography to choose from, quick rendering and sharing, and more.

Emoji Key

With Emoji Key, finding the emoji you want is just a simple sketch away. The keyboard app intelligently suggests emoji for you, instantly upon opening. And if you don’t see the one your after, a quick and crude sketch will help narrow down your choices. I admit, the app is kind of expensive for what it does, but if you hate hunting for emoji as much as I do, it’s worth checking out.

Danger Notes

Don’t stop typing. If you do, all of your work will disappear and be gone forever. That’s the theory behind Danger Notes, an app that promises to help you fight writer’s block. It forces you into formulating an actual flow of writing instead of allowing you to stare at a blank document for 2 hours. The more you type, the easier it is to break through your block.

Robbery is an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure game based on—you guessed it—robbing a bank. In it you must gather a team, develop a plan, choose the path of retreat and even dream about how you’re going to spend your money. Remember that every choice you make can result in dramatic consequences. Will you end up on the beach, sipping mai tais, or behind bars?

Telling Lies

Telling Lies is an investigative thriller with non-linear storytelling. The game sets you in front of an anonymous laptop loaded with a stolen NSA database of video footage of 4 people over the last two years. Explore the database, watch the clips and try to piece together what really happened the night of the shocking incident. Unlike anything you’ve ever played before.
