Shortly after the Electra Team dropped a couple of updates for the Electra jailbreak tool, hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd released a duo of updates to the unc0ver jailbreak tool to the general public.

Pwn20wnd announced the updates Wednesday afternoon via Twitter, noting that it would resolve a problem with installing Cydia and extracting bootstrap upon jailbreaking. At the time of this writing, unc0ver v2.2.2 is now the latest public release:

These same changes are also noted in the official changelog published on Pwn20wnd’s GitHub repository:

01/30/2019 – v2.2.2 was released for public testing with the following changes:

– Fully fix a bug in installing Cydia / extracting bootstrap

01/30/2019 – v2.2.1 was released for public testing with the following changes:

– Fix a bug in installing Cydia / extracting bootstrap

Since unc0ver v3.0.0 is based off unc0ver v2.2.0, it’s not too surprising that the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release was revised with similar fixes. In fact, the pre-release received at least three more revisions since being released earlier today:

01/30/2019 – v3.0.0~b1 was recompiled to fix the in-app version number

01/30/2019 – v3.0.0~b2 was released for public testing with the following changes:

– Fix UI to show that it supports iOS 11.0 – 11.4.1

– Update credits for @_bazad

01/30/2019 – v3.0.0~b3 was released for public testing with the following changes:

– Fix a bug in installing Cydia

01/30/2019 – v3.0.0~b4 was released for public testing with the following changes:

– Fully fix a bug in installing Cydia

Unless you’re an advanced jailbreaker or developer and understand the basics of troubleshooting errors, it’s advised that you hold off on unc0ver v3.0.0 until it’s officially released. At the time of this writing, it’s essentially a beta, and that means it’s prone to bugs.

Both the unc0ver v2.2.2 public release and the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release can be downloaded from Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub repository. Please keep in mind that only unc0ver v3.0.0 supports iOS 11.4.x; unc0ver v2.2.2 continues to support iOS 11.0-11.4 beta 3.
