Apple on Tuesday released a handful of new Smart Battery Cases for its latest line of iPhones. The Cases are priced at $129, available in both black and white colorways, and are available for the iPhone XR, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max.
As you can see from the images, the Smart Battery Cases look nearly identical to their predecessors. There are cutouts for the rear flash and camera lenses, as well as the Lightning connector, and a large hump on the back where the battery pack sits.
Here is how they’ll increase each handset’s battery life:
- iPhone XR: adds up to 39 hours of additional talk time, 22 hours of Internet use, and 27 hours of video playback
- iPhone XS: adds up to 33 hours of additional talk time, 21 hours of Internet use and 25 hours of video playback
- iPhone XS Max: adds up to 37 hours of talk time, 20 hours of Internet use and 25 hours of video playback
Apple says the Cases are compatible with Qi-certified chargers, and you can charge your iPhone and battery case simultaneously. The case also supports USB-PD compatible chargers for faster charging, and can recharge Lightning accessories like AirPods.
