Apply a custom color palette to iOS’ official Twitch app with Serene

Twitch is one of the most popular ways for people to share their gaming experiences with the rest of the world. On the other hand, the mobile app doesn’t provide any options to customize the user interface out of the box; love it or hate it, you’re stuck with how it looks.

Fortunately, those with jailbroken devices can bend the rules a little bit with a new free jailbreak tweak called Serene by iOS developer Revulate. This tweak gives Twitch users access to colorization options that can help you achieve the look and feel you aspire for.

As shown in the screenshot examples above, Serene can colorize a bevy of different interface elements found within the official Twitch app. Once installed, the tweak adds a preference pane to the Settings app where you can conceive the ideal look and feel for your app:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle Serene on or off on demand
  • Hide or show the separator lines between content
  • Toggle solid background on or of
    • Choose a custom background color
  • Choose a custom navigation bar color
  • Choose a custom tab bar color
  • Choose a custom headers color
  • Select a primary tint color
  • Select a secondary tint color
  • Select a primary text color
  • Select a secondary text color

The developer includes a blue “Apply Changes” button at the bottom of the preference pane that you can use to save any changes you make. You should also probably force-quit the Twitch app and restart it after making changes here to ensure they go into effect.

Given the options available, Serene seems to be an excellent way to customize your Twitch app. If you’re interested in giving Serene a try, then you can download it for free from Cydia’s Nepeta repository. The tweak works on all jailbroken iOS 10 and 11 devices running the official Twitch app from the App Store.
