Facebook on Wednesday introduced ‘Say Thanks’, a new service allowing its members to create and send personalized video cards to their friends and family on the service.

To make a video for a friend, just visit facebook.com/thanks. Upon choosing a friend, the service will generate a preview of your personalized video card. Limited customization features are available, allowing you to change a theme of the video< edit photos and posts that represent your friendship and write a personalized message.

Hitting the “Share” button will post the video on your Timeline. Any friends you have chosen will be tagged in the post, meaning it will show up on their Timeline as well.

Check out the promo video below.

You can create as many personalized video cards as you like.

Say Thanks reminds me of a similar service last year which summarized a year’s worth of your popular posts, photos and other content to create “Year In Review” videos.

And here’s an example Say Thanks video.

Say Thanks is a staggered release: the service is rolling out on both desktop and mobile starting today in English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish.
