Pinterest app finally lands on iPad

You’d have to be living on a deserted island with no connection to the outside world to not have heard of Pinterest by now. The pinboard-style social photo sharing service has taken the web by storm over the past 12 months.

And there’s good news this morning for folks who frequent the social network: the Pinterest app has finally landed on the iPad (and Android). This means you can now re-pin all of those silly cat photos from the comfort of your tablet…

From the Pinterest blog:

“iPad owners may have the best Pinterest experience yet. Our new iPad app is perfect for sitting on the couch, on a train, or in bed where users can effortlessly discover, save and organize the things that interest them. The app offers users new ways to engage with pins, whether swiping the screen to resume browsing after viewing a board, or using the embedded browser to see what others are pinning from their favorite sites.”

I’ll admit, I don’t use Pinterest very much, but I am extremely impressed with the iPad app. It’s everything an iPad app should be — engaging, intuitive and snappy. You can literally pick it up and start browsing images within seconds.

If you want to try it out for yourself, you can find Pinterest for iPad in the App Store. You’ll need an account to use a lot of the app’s features, but the service recently opened up to the public, so you should have no problems signing up.
