Gorgeous iOS concept shows off dynamic icon badges and more

With WWDC coming up on Monday, there's only a few days left to speculate on what new goodies Apple will unveil. We know for sure that iOS 6 is on the menu, but what new features will the update bring?

The consensus seems to be that, other than a number of revamped applications, Apple's mobile OS will remain largely unchanged from its predecessor. But that doesn't mean that we can't dream big...

RedSn0w 0.9.12b2 released with new injection feature, bug fixes

Earlier this week, the Dev Team released a major update to its RedSn0w jailbreak utility. The update included a new option for SAM unlockers, that allowed them to restore their activation tickets, and other improvements.

Today's update, however, is a much smaller release. RedSn0w 0.9.12b2 just surfaced on the Dev Team's website, featuring a new rocky-racoon injection option and an iBooks bug fix. Keep reading for the full change log...

iOS 6 logo spotted on WWDC 2012 banners

Apple started raising banners in San Francisco's Moscone West two days ago, ahead of the big event's keynote scheduled for next Monday, June 11, at 10am Pacific Time.

And just this moment, one guy managed to snap a photo outside the Moscone Center which clearly shows the new iOS 6 logo for the first time on one of the banners.

The photographic evidence confirms that Apple will be showing off iOS 6 so it's news, not a rumor anymore. The logo is pretty elegant and cool-looking, wouldn't you agree?

Why the iPhone doesn’t have audible turn-by-turn directions

Thanks to my years in wireless sales, I can honestly say I've tried out more than my fair share of smartphones. The carrier I worked for made us try a new handset every 90 days to ensure that we were all well-versed in our craft.

But out of all of the devices I played with and carried, none were able to woo me away from the iPhone. In fact, the only non-iOS feature that I have ever really lusted after was Android's ability to give audible turn-by-turn directions...

This upcoming tweak allows you to add an animated Lock screen to your iPhone

AnimateLockscreen is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that allows you to add animation to your iPhone's Lock screen. Because it uses boot logo animations to accomplish the effect, it means that there are almost 1,000 different animations that you can enjoy right out of the box.

If you're looking to add some splash to your iPhone's Lock screen, and a static wallpaper just isn't enough, then AnimateLockscreen is the next logical choice. It should be available soon on Cydia's BigBoss repo, but until then, have a look at our video walkthrough...

Apple TV SDK to launch at WWDC: apps finally coming to your telly

A new report published this morning claims that Apple will seed developers with a brand new Apple TV software development kit (SDK) as early as its annual developers conference which kicks off with a San Francisco keynote next Monday.

Conceivably, the goal of the SDK would be to foster growth of the third-party app ecosystem around the Apple TV, the $99 set-top box which remains closed to app developers (unless you jailbreak, that is)...

Apple Campus 2 plans show massive underground auditorium for pressers and exhibitions

The City of Cupertino has released a new set of high-resolution technical drawings for Apple's upcoming ring-shaped Campus 2 facility. The official documents depict the iSpaceship building, including underground parking space for nearly five thousand cars and a massive auditorium where Apple will hold media events.

So if you thought past media events were magical and spellbinding, Apple's future press conference are bound to knock your socks off once Campus 2 officially opens some time in 2015...

ayecon WinterBoard theme released on Cydia

[tube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrE8qxkG9ik[/tube]

ayecon, the highly anticipated WinterBoard theme from popular iOS theme designer, Surenix, just made its debut on Cydia's BigBoss repo. To take advantage of the theme, you must have a Retina enabled iPhone or iPod touch, and be running iOS 5 or above.

As you no doubt noticed in our hands-on walkthrough, ayecon is a stunner in the looks department. Although I think our video does a good job at displaying the crazy amount of detail possessed by ayecon, it really needs to be witnessed in person to be totally appreciated.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not nearly as into theming my iPhone as I used to be, but ayecon has helped rekindle my interest somewhat. You can purchase it now for $2.99 on Cydia's BigBoss repo. Let us know what you think about it in the comments.

Apple’s marketing boss Phil Schiller profiled as Mini-Me and Dr. No

Bloomberg Businessweek ran an interesting profile of Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller who after CEO Tim Cook is said to be under tremendous pressure to fill the void following Steve Jobs' passing last October.

In a way, he is in charge of what's known as the world's greatest marketing machine. Schiller, 52, controls a $1 billion global advertising budget and is responsible for Apple's 180-degree turn with new celebrity commercials.

He "has the daunting task of keeping Apple cool" and is very well aware that "he’ll get more than his fair share of blame if the new products aren’t hits"...

Video of “iPhone 5” renderings brings rumors and leaked parts to life

Despite an abundance of claims from insider sources that the recently-leaked metal iPhone backing is the real deal, a lot of folks remain skeptical of its legitimacy. Could this really be what Apple's next smartphone looks like?

Well a new video has surfaced this morning that aims to show us what the next-generation iPhone could look like, should these leaked parts and other rumors materialize this fall. And we have to admit, it looks good...
