More Details From Today’s Apple Event: Steve Jobs, iOS, and MobileMe

It's been a busy day for Apple. The iPad 2 has been announced, and Apple is set to take the tablet market by storm again.

During Apple's keynote this morning, lot's of great announcements were made. There were some expected details, some curveballs, and several rumors were left unanswered.

Let's take a look at some components of today's keynote. Perhaps even more interesting are the topics left unaddressed by Apple...

iPad 2, iOS 5, MobileMe, and Steve Jobs: What to Expect From Tomorrow’s Apple Event

Apple will be holding an iPad-centric event tomorrow at the Yerba Buena Center in San Fransisco, California. Honestly, that's all anyone knows at this point.

In the calm before the storm, speculation based on rumors based on leaks are all there is to go on. There's a good chance that Apple will address other products like MobileMe.

General consensus is that we'll also see a preview of iOS 5.0. An iOS 5 tease wouldn't be a stretch, especially with the probable release of the iPhone 5 this June.

Apparently Adobe Cares About the iPhone Again

That didn't take along, did it? Yesterday we reported that Apple announced they were loosening the reins on the guidelines and restrictions as it relates to the App Store. The thought in our minds and apparently the mind of Adobe as well was "what does this mean for Flash and the iPhone?"

Don't believe it will happen as fast as it's being reported? TUAW has Adobe saying the following regarding Apple's new attitude:

Apple Loosens All iOS Development Restrictions, Including Flash?

It's an eery feeling when you write an article and on the same day the company you wrote about changes or modifies a policy related to the content of your story. It makes you feel like they're watching you.

We posted a story about the SDK for iOS and how the cloudy restrictive nature of the acceptance process might be hurting the creative flow of the App Store. Less than 2 hours later 9 to 5 Mac posted a statement by Apple regarding the App Store review guidelines...

Does Apple’s SDK for iOS Kill Creativity?

I can't imagine owning an iPhone or other Apple handheld without the addition of the App Store. I've said before that I believe it to be the greatest asset to the iOS platform. So what's the problem?

Apple Investor outlines the possibility that a vague module and a totalitarian controlled acceptance process has caused developers to walk on egg shells thus stunting their creativity. Some say the terms of service are often inconsistent, but as with any report like this, there are two lines of thought to be heard...

iOS 4.1 Seeded to Developers

Apple just pushed the iOS SDK 4.1 beta to developers. This move is widely expected to NOT fix the antenna issue but rather hide it behind cosmetic changes. This beta version (for developers only) will show bigger bars and will fix the formula that calculates how many bars are displayed, which Apple said to be "totally wrong".

Unless you're a developer, you really have no business playing with the iOS SDK 4.1. beta. Also keep in mind that installing this beta version or the future official iOS 4.1 may compromise your chances of jailbreaking or unlocking your iPhone.
