In an effort to let everyone get a taste of its many features and premium content, lossless music service Tidal will be introducing a free 12-day trial beginning on Christmas Day.

As The Verge reported Friday, signing up for the 12-day trial will be possible with an email address alone, without requiring that users enter their credit card information.

There are no strings attached—the free trial will give music lovers unrestricted access to Tidal’s catalog of songs, albums and more than 130,000 music videos in high definition. The premium $19.99/month tier that enables CD-quality lossless streaming will be included in the free trial.

The trial period will last until January 5.

“The streaming service says it will release exclusive content on each day of the trial, including four new original content series’, interviews, music videos and documentaries on Rapsody and Trombone Shorty as well as giving away some concert tickets,” said The Verge.

Tidal has a nice iOS app that takes full advantage of the native iPhone X display resolution. As of recently, Tidal supports CarPlay and just yesterday launched its brand new Apple TV app.

Tidal is priced at $9.99 per month for standard sound quality, or $19.99 per month for lossless streaming. Other tiers are available, too, like family and student accounts.

Will you be singing up for Tidal’s 12-day trial on Christmas Day?

False advertisement. Credit card is required, you have to use your apple account, which is linked to a credit card in order to sign up for the free 30 day trial…..

    • Not false advertisement. Credit card is not required at all to sign up for a free 12-day trial starting on Christmas Day. You are referring to Tidal’s existing 30-day free trial. Even that does not require that your Apple account have credit card info because you can use App Store with iTunes credit, no credit card needed

Nope. Says payment information required when you click on start free 30 day trial.

As well if you don’t sign up for a trial I see no way of being able to play the music. Do you have instructions on how to do it without requiring credit card? My apple account has no credit card linked to it and I tried to sign up for even the 30 day free trial and received “PAyment information Required. To subscribe, add a new payment method. You’ll only be charged when your trial ends”

So I know it requires credit information for that portion. I however see no way of using the service without signing up

But i’ll be honest, I don’t care. I will stick with spotify. I was only pointing out the flaws in how this doesn’t work. Trust me, it does not work for free.

IF someone can show me how it works for free (provide steps) I will be quiet about it. But it does not work.

The 30 day trial yes you need to enter payment info, but on Christmas Day, Monday, you will not need to. Simple as that.

Best Christmas gift ever! Now I can finally listen to the Jay-Z album. Lol

  • Tidal is a sinking ship, I wish someone in upper management could realize that and cut their losses
