Eightydays.me, Background, Pie and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps to check out this weekend

It’s the weekend again, and you know what that means! It’s time for another addition of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have some great selections, including an app for helping you plan your trips and vacations, a wallpaper gallery, and an app for taking 360 videos. And as usual, we’ve picked out a couple new games for you to check out.

Eightydays.me

travel

If you’re planning a trip with multiple destinations, or are just looking to travel on the cheap, you need to check out Eightydays.me. You just tell the app your start and finish dates/cities, and the theme of your trip, and it does the rest. It will offer you several routes, and you pick the one you like the best, book the tickets, and you’re ready for adventure. The average person spends as much as 10 hours planning a multi-destination trip—Eightydays.me can do it for you in under 10 minutes. This app is available for free.

Background

bg

There’s not much to explain here. Background is an app for browsing through and saving iPhone wallpapers. There are of course thousands of these already in the App Store, but I like the minimal design of this one and have already come across several beautiful wallpapers that I had not seen before. There are 3 feeds of photos: newest, curated and most popular, and you can switch between resolutions depending on your phone model. Background is available for free.

Pie

360

Pie allows you to make cool 360-degree videos, whether or not you have a 360-degree camera, and watch others’ 360 videos. With Pie, you can take a panoramic video “slice” of your surrounding by moving your phone in an arc-like motion, add filters and text on top to make it look cool, and then share it with your followers. The app supports several actual 360-degree cameras, and you can share on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and various other social networks. Pie is available for free.

Breakout Ninja

ninja

If you’re looking for a new arcade game to play this weekend, check out Breakout Ninja. It features platform/runner gameplay, in which you must jump your way through each level collecting coins and avoiding obstacles. Jumping can be done with just a single tap, so there’s not a lot of complexity here, but the simplicity and beautiful artwork make for a great pick-up-and-play type of game. Breakout Ninja is available for free.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location

five

Here is the latest mobile port in the hit Five Nights at Freddy’s series. Welcome to Circus Baby’s Pizza World, where family fun and interactivity go beyond anything you’ve seen at those *other* pizza places! Now hiring: Late night technician. Must enjoy cramped spaces and be comfortable around active machinery. Not responsible for death or dismemberment. In Sister Location, you get new characters, places and terrors. Includes Custom Night, Baby “death” Mini-Game, and multiple endings. This game is available for $2.99.
