Apple has stopped signing all versions of iOS 9.0.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch this afternoon. As always, the closing of this signing window makes downgrading to this software version impossible.

Users who jailbreak their devices are the ones to get most likely affected by this situation. With downgrading now impossible, jailbreak users must be careful to not accidentally update to iOS 9.1 and lose their jailbreak in the process.

  • Merman123

Time to get picky with the tweaks.

    • ديف فرانكو

Said the same thing. Can’t take a chance on anything that doesn’t say “iOS 9”

      • lookHOWMADheis

Seriously, I tried to install a game mod and my phone was stuck in a re-spring loop, so glad I fixed it without having to restore!

    • Boaz van Veen

Why, there is save mode nowadays.

      • Nesly Lacroix

Install an incompatible tweak and you will see.

  • f96lrs

just did iphone 5 like 5 minutes ago good job

  • f96lrs

    need cydia impactor

    • Antzboogie

I heard its out already out.

  • Markieze Mitchell

Lol I’m glad I fixed my ipad this morning with the jailbreak running well.

    • Brian May

Same here! Did all three of my devices last night/this morning. They were running fine but they were all restored backups from iOS 8.4. Now it’s all nice and clean

  • William Melendez

Well. As i was checking the website it was grey out , and I thought it was a glitch or something. Then a minute later I see this post ! Damn it . I wanted to re jailbreak because my keyboard is being glitchy …

    • IkillYou

do a clean restore. with cydia impactor, if its compatible with ios 9

  • Templar

Feeling Sorry for the people that didn’t downgrade

    • Blacklight: Retribution

      They had plenty of time

    • I like jailbreaking but I like iOS 9.1 because of new emojis.

      • Jayy

Emojis aren’t enough for me to not jailbreak

      • Ian

There is a tweak to bring the 9.1 new emojis to older iOS versions.

      • lookHOWMADheis

        still has bugs

  • TwinSon

Ha litterally just reinstalled 9.0.2 yesterday so I could JB. Close call.

    • mrgerbik

Ha litterally ? Wrong use of word and misspelled to boot. Good job.

      • Leo Parker

Wow don’t you feel superior? Putting people down for spelling. You’re not an English teacher so get off your high horse. English might be his second language so I commend him for at least trying. You try learning another language and see how that goes. Geez! People like you really piss me off.

      • mrgerbik

No i don’t feel superior. At all. Should I?

  • Jacob Stark

Can someone please explain why Apple is signing iOS 9.0.2 for so many days? Do they want people to downgrade or are they just being nice to people who want to jailbreak?

    • It’s not uncommon for Apple to take about a week or so.

    • tunutsaigon

I assume just because newer firmware from Apple may f^ck up people’s devices so they could have way to downgrade back to their previous firmware…

    • Anonymous

Its unlikely apple is as you said, “being nice to people who want to jailbreak”. They have that signing processes most likely if the software bricks your phone you can use an older but stable software.

    • Blip dude

      Remember iOS 8.0.1???

  • tunutsaigon

Now is the time to add saurik’s beta repo and install Cydia Impactor as a last resort just in case you guy messed up your device’s file system. I myself checked this tool 2 days ago and it worked well on my iPhone 6+ iOS 9.0.2…

    Saurik’s beta repo: apt.saurik[DOT]com/beta/cy-impactor/

    • Blacklight: Retribution

      Best tweak.

    • diggitydang

Is Cydia Impactor ready? For some reason, I thought it was still being updated.

      • tunutsaigon

So far it worked well and be confirmed by Saurik himself:
        reddit[DOT]com/r/jailbreak/comments/3qrj1v/ discussion_ios_902_stopped_being_signed/cwhtzvx

    • Jayy

      What exactly is Cydia Impactor

      • tunutsaigon

      • Mr_Coldharbour

It’s a jailbreak app/tweak developed by Saurik (Cydia creator) that allows you to completely factory restore your device whilst still remain on the same iOS firmware you’re on. An iTunes restore forces you to update to the latest iOS firmware when available, thereby losing your jailbreak, with Cydia Impactor you can completely restore as a fresh new device without updating and hence get to perpetually keep your device jailbreakable. You should read idownloadblog more often, Cydia Impactor is by far the most useful utility to ever hit Cydia.

      • Jayy

Thanks for the info, and trust me i’m on iDB everyday. I just wasn’t aware of that tweak. That is definitely something very useful!

      • Mr_Coldharbour

No problem, glad I could help. As soon as Cydia Impactor is iOS 9 compatible, install it immediately. One never knows when that one bad tweak could potentially ruin the entire setup and force a restore. At least with this one gets to keep a jailbreakable firmware.

      • Jayy

True, and correct me if i’m wrong but restoring from a backup to place all your things back on wouldn’t be an issue correct?

      • Mr_Coldharbour

Personally, I never ever restore from a backup, I always start anew (fresh install and then jailbreak). But if you must, the correct way would be as follows: fresh restore, jailbreak, then restore from backup on iTunes. In that order. Again, I personally never restore from a backup, I always want the freshest most optimal setup possible. I still do iTunes backups nonetheless though I wouldn’t know from experience if restoring from a backup would be an issue because I never tried and probably won’t, but I hear a lot even from Jeff, Saurik and others that it shouldn’t be a problem.

      • Jayy

Yeah I’ve actually done a restore from back up after jailbreaking a few times and it causes no issues with my phone at all.

    • Nesly Lacroix

Cydia Impactor is useless if you cannot at least boot in Safemode.

  • Armed in the Villa

I literally downgraded and jailbroke my iPhone 6 Plus yesterday for fears this would happen. Thanks for all of the warnings!

  • Steven Pedraza

Omg my brother justly got so extreme not lucky. His iPod touch 6g just literally right now finished upgrading to 9.0.2

  • IainD

I am running 9.0.2 but unable to restore in itunes because of this what is the best procedure to jailbreak? Restore phone via the phone itself?

    • No need to restore just jailbreak.

      • IainD

My upgrade was done a while ago over the air, should I not be factory defaulting the phone first?

      • Damn ota. Iono bout that.

      • IainD

I was not panicking last night because I was already running 9.0.2 so thought leaving it one night would be ok. Busy with Parenting etc. Regret it now. Will erase Iphone via phone and give it a shot. Lets see how it goes? Or maybe just wait to see what others say. Getting late now

      • I say go for it.

      • Blip dude

I jailbroke my iPhone 6S Plus even though I updated OTA to 9.0.2 and everything turned out fine on my end. The only issue I had was Apex still kept sending me into safe mode even after it was updated to iOS 9, and it was the only tweak installed. Once I removed it, haven’t had any issues, except for the issue with my home button which has nothing to do with the Jailbreak, just a bad hardware issue.

      • IainD

Did you just reset the phone via phone settings before jailbreak?

      • Blip dude

Nope, just a simple OTA update. I didn’t have a reason to reset the phone itself, but I also don’t see how much of a difference that plays into everything.

  • InfinitePlusOne

    It’s fine I’ll stick with 9.1

  • Glad I decided to downgrade yesterday. Time to be very careful whether jailbroken or not.

  • rodrigo

that means I can’t do a clean manual restore via itunes, correct?

    • Blacklight: Retribution

  • J. Rockwell

Damn I just upgraded to 9.0.2 and jailbroke last night. Talk about a close call.

  • Javiers

Good thing I upgraded and jail broke just last night. Phew.

  • rubeN

Shit just serious. Need to be careful what u install in Cydia now.

  • Gilbert L

Out of luck. Now my best chance to jailbreak is that my new 6S comes with ios 9.0.2 pre installed.

    • Blacklight: Retribution

    • I hope you get lucky with that, but Apple is really good at making sure the latest iOS is on all new devices whne they ship

      • Blip dude

Not at all, I remember getting an iPhone 5 replacement on 7.0.2 even when 7.1.2 was about to be released. Hell, I even purchased an iPod touch 5th Gen with 7.0.5 when 7.1.1 was already released. Hell I purchased an iPad Air 2 in May and it came with 8.1 installed (latest firmware was 8.3 in May). Many devices still make it out to the wild way before the latest firmware comes installed.

      • 5723alex .

Not at all. I got my iPhone 6s Plus with iOS 9.0.1 installed.

  • Morgan Freeman

I had been waiting for Pangu to release the jailbreak app for Mac before updating my phone from 8.4. Jailbroke the iPad last night, figured I’d update the phone today and jailbreak. Guess it’s staying on 8.4! Oh well, maybe I’ll leave it there. Always hear iDevices like staying on original version it came with anyways. (iPhone 6)

  • Blacklight: Retribution

Good time my iPhone 5s was restored to iOS 9.0.2.

  • Tylor Jackson

I’m glad I fix my iPad mini 3 this afternoon with jailbroken running well 🙂

    • rubeN

      U lucked out

  • jonny

Shoot! I was gonna upgrade to iOS 9.0.2 from iOS 8.4 tomorrow! Guess I have to wait another few weeks/months. :/

  • Oscar

Wow. I just got my iPad Air 2 replaced at the Genius Bar today. Updated to 9.0.2 from 8.4.1 via IPSW… I am so lucky.

  • anonmuz

Guess I downgraded just in time. I just downgraded about a hour ago from 9.1.

  • zeman tamy

I am at ios 9.1 and love it.
If there is a jailbreak for ios 9.1 it will be cool.
If there isn’t ios 9.1 jailbreak, it is still worth it for me.

  • Manuel Molina

Oh, no!!! My cousin was playing with my phone and got a message from iTunes on my phone to update the software. He then connected my iPhone to the computer, downloaded a 30 min file from Apple, and waiting another 30 mins to restore and update my phone. I’m on iOS 9.1. Can I downgrade or jaikbreak again?

    • Micrones

      Too late Mate

    • White Michael Jackson

      HA HA Nope!

    • J. Rockwell

Manuel are you serious? That sucks bruh!

      • Manuel Molina

Nah, I just remember the days when iDB first came up and people sent those comments all the time. It always made me seriously wonder how something like that could happen.

  • Jerry

They need to release 9.1.1, 9.1 is buggy as hell

  • Blip dude

Well, looks like I’m going to be staying stock for a while then. On top of my iPad Air 2 having hardware issues, now my iPhone 6S Plus is giving me crap with the home button and it’s only eventually going to get worse. Either way, iOS 9 offers me enough to be satisfied without a Jailbreak for a while. Gives me time to beta test iOS 9.2 as well.

  • Who couldn’t say no to new emojis?!

  • Luke

Right so…. My new iPhone 6s Plus lags randomly sometimes. It’s the OS….right? It’s a brand new phone, and nothing can be wrong with it…I don’t think. It also runs animations on the home screen (pressing with force touch) with 30fps instead of 60. Is it just poorly optimized? Love the phone btw.

    • RubbaNeck

I’ve noticed this as well. With reduce transparency on the phone runs super smooth. 3D Touch animations are night and day with it enabled. It really is a shame.

      • Luke

Wow wtf Apple….it should’ve been this smooth from the start….

  • MagicHack

Lol, I just restored my iPad to 9.0.2 yesterday

  • Andy Gostavo

Goodbye 9.0.2 … see you when they invent some technology in future when we are able to use what we want ..

  • Tarek Al Shawi

im glad that pangs released a mac tool b4 apple stopped signing 9.0.2 🙂 thanks panguuuuuuuu

  • Karim Farrag

Jeff Benjamin, do you prefer your daily drive iPhone jailbroaken or not which better??

  • Marino

Is upgrading from 8.4 to 9.0.2 still possible? They only talk about downgrading but how about upgrading?

    • Jamie Sherratt

once the firmware stops being signed you can not restore, upgrade or downgrade to that version of iOS any longer.

  • Kenny NL

I downgraded two days ago but unfortunately found out that 9.1 gave me a few hours extra on my battery. So now I’m back and waiting till 9.1/.2 JB comes out.

  • Stefano

hey guys, Cydia crashes 2 seconds after i try to launch it. I have just ran pangu on 9.0.2 with 6+. No tweaks added, nothing. Any suggestions?

  • Manazir Hussain

damn i installed ios 9.0.2 couple of days ago then i want to get JB, i attempt jailbreak then cydia crashes on opening . iv read on other sites and forums that you need to restore to ios 9.0.2 but since apple have stopped signing so what shall i do ???
btw im currently running ios 9.0.2 JB but cydia not opening
need help so pls do reply thanks.

  • Guilherme Zagonel

I have an iPhone in the ios 8.4 can i update to the ios 9.0.2 or I cant do this anymore?

  • Daniel Kleinberg

    Guys, three questions:
01 – I will get my iPhone 6S this week. I’m guessing that it will come with iOS 9.0.
Can I jailbreak it just as it is? With the original iOS that it comes with.
02 – If successful, after jailbreaking it, how can I restore from an iCloud backup (apps, photos)? I won’t be with my computer at the occasion, other wise I would restore from it.
03 – I was thinking on going to: “Settings – General – Reset – Erase All Content and Settings”. Will I lose the jailbreak if I do that?

  • Aseef Sayeed Neeloy

hey i am using 4s running ios 9.2 .. now can i downgrade to ios 8.4.1 or ios 7 ? and if i jailbreak my ios 9.2 then can i downgrade to ios 8.4.1 ?? please help !!
