Top 20 iPhone 6s Features Hero

Now that the iPhone 6s has been here for a few days and we’ve been able to at least partly digest its presence, it’s time to tell us about your favorite new feature. Is it the new rose gold color? How about 2GB of RAM? Or maybe you think 3D Touch widely exceeds expectations?

We have our favorites, now it’s time to share yours. Vote in our poll, and let your opinion be heard.

I’ll go ahead and share my favorite feature: the A9 Processor. This phone is smoking fast. It can export 4K video nearly as fast as my Late 2013 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM. Granted, it’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but you can understand where I’m coming from. I’m also a big fan of having 2GB of RAM, which makes an incredible difference, and really lifts a huge bottleneck out of the iPhone.

So, again, what’s your favorite new feature? Vote in our poll, and leave a comment below.

I have no clue why everyone is so excited about the RAM. It doesn’t add any functionality to the phone. Sure, it might be a bit snappier, and it might let you keep more apps in the background, but you’re telling me that the same amount of people are intrigued about the extra GB of ram as they are with a literal 3rd dimension of touch? That’s going to add so much for future apps and devices that we don’t even know of yet.

    • DbzFan4Lyfe

Maybe is be high on weed but the Device compare to the 6 is way snappier and it feel a lot faster.

If your car window was broken, and you had to deal with that for years.. and then one day you fixed it, and you also installed a new radio for your car.. what do you think would matter to you the most?

      • ieatcalcium

You can’t really compare it to a broken window. It wasn’t ever broken. You have to compare it to putting used tires vs putting brand new tires in your car. I would be much happier with a slamming sound system either way, but the RAM in iOS wasn’t ever broken.

      • Husam Hamed

Having to reload the app/tab when you multitask is enough reason to say it was broken.
We never had real multitasking on our apple devices before.. so when you say ram, you’re actually saying multitasking. and that’s only one of the many benefits of having more ram.

      • ieatcalcium

You didn’t have to if you had a normal amount of tabs open. This dude had like 20 open. So no, it wasn’t broken. Multitasking is still the exact same as it was in the iPhone 6, it’s just you can have more apps and more tabs open. They haven’t changed how multitasking works at all. So still, your reference to the broken window doesn’t make much sense.

      • Merman123

It’s not the same though… It makes much of a difference. Not just with Safari. With the phone in general.

      • askep3

        True haha

    • diggitydang

For me, it’s the reloading of apps. In particular, Facebook – when you go back to the app after doing something, it reloads and takes you to the top of the Newsfeed – not where you left off.

Another is reloading Safari tabs – you link from one tab to another to read about something that was linked, then hop back, and the page reloads, often to the top of the page where you are forced to find the spot on the page again. This is also crappy for data plans which make you reload pages again.

I think it’s a big deal but maybe depends how you use your phone.

Something no one has mention but i will this apply to T-mobile users, I saw a huge improvement in Coverage and my dead areas now i have 3 LTE dots.

  • Matt G

The fast touch ID is awesome, every time I click it, I’m amazing by how much faster it is compared to the iPhone 6. With that being said I still have to go with the 2GB of RAM, web browsing with multiple tabs has vastly improved.

    • Felipe Queiroz Drumond

Imagine how I feel migrating from 5s to 6s.

      • Diego Tenoch Hernández

Likely the same as someone upgrading from the iPhone 6/6+

The 5s/6/6+ virtually the same specs

      • Fardeen Beharry

im still on an iphone 4s 😀 imagine how it will feel

      • Mustafa Bayrakdar

Imagine how I feel migrating from 5! to 6s.

  • Gary LE

If 3d touch is CUSTOMIZABLE then I will choose it. For example force touch a word in safari definition pops up or 3d touch link a new tab opens. I want to just 3d it and to not have to do additional taps.

For that reason I will have to choose 2gb of ram

  • Jose Gonzalez

Ugh! Hard to pick just one!

I held off upgrading from the 5s to the 6. And have now upgraded from the 5s to the 6s Plus and I love it all!

The screen is just beautiful and seriously the perfect size!

Having the extra GB of RAM sure is a wonderful addition!

I love the 3D Touch and Live Photos features! Have a live photo wallpaper of my daughter right now and literally watch it every time I’m on the lock screen!

4K and OIS made all my shots I took at the Fairoaks Farm visit look really nice!:)

Coming from the A7 processor on the 5s, it’s such a huge upgrade in overall speed throughout the phone.

Overall I am loving my new 6s Plus! Haven’t used my iPad mini all weekend since I receive this phone on Friday. Can’t say it will replace it though, it’s still a necessity for my work flow and I will be upgrading it to the new iPad mini 4.

Sadly my wife still has a shipping time frame between 10/27-11/3 for her Rose Gold 6s Plus…she is now more anxious to get hers after seeing mine!

    • That_Fruitarian

Great reply!! Thanks for the input.

    • Fevostone

Well I would say that it’s easy to pick then. It’s got to be Live Photos as seeing your little one come to life at a single press is priceless..!!

  • Merman123

Mix between 3D Touch and 2GB ram.

  • (JailbreakQA) King Shoot

RAM. For generations my iPhones have been stuttering and crashing. This was mostly because of the extensive jailbreak tweaks and themes I always install when I jailbreak. My 5S right now is a bit slower than stock, with only 25 tweaks – a bit, but still noticable. I’m hoping that the extra RAM will keep my device as fast as stock, but with all the jailbreak tweaks I install.

  • Dalton

Using 3D Touch to enable the multitask or switch apps. Finally a replacement for Auxo or Seng!

    • Jamessmooth

Couldn’t agree more with this. I just wish you could activate it from the right side instead of the left!

      • Chris

Thinking about it, Apple should have added an option to switch the way the cards display. I would imagine this would be slightly more difficult for left-handed users.

      • Jamessmooth

Hopefully they’ll include this as an option in a new iOS update. I’m right handed, and it’s a pain to reach to the left on my 6s Plus. Swiping from the right would be soooo much more convenient.

  • Jamessmooth

2gb of ram is first on my list, next is the A9 and third is 3D Touch. It is SO annoying to have those tabs in safari reload!

  • That_Fruitarian

Wow!! It can export 4K video nearly as fast as your MacBook Pro?

Imagine what the iPad pro will be like.

  • Felipe Queiroz Drumond

The experience that the A9 processor together with 2GB RAM is great.

Also, the faster Touch ID improved the experience of using the device. It seems that the it recognizes my presence and unlock itself, as I don’t need to rest my fingers on TouchID.

In addition, for the very first time Siri is useful, as I don’t even need to touch the iPhone.

On the other hand, 3D Touch seems buggy when I want to edit text. Fortunately, Apple will be able to correct it. Otherwise, some tweak from the forthcoming jailbreak will solve this issue.

I was wondering… why does 6s Plus has image stabilization and 6s does not? Is it a software flag or a hardware matter?

    • Chris

I was wondering… why does 6s Plus has image stabilization and 6s does not? Is it a software flag or a hardware matter?

It came down to the amount of the room the 6+ has compared to the smaller 6. I believe Phil Schiller explained this at last years event.

  • Stephaughn Alston

I know this is not on the list but I would have to say the new Wi-Fi chip thats in the 6S/6S Plus. Since I’ve had my 6S Plus I have not had one video buffer and when I did a speedtest I’m getting 120mbps down, the same on my MacBook Pro 2014. Insane.

  • Tnt4ever

    None of above.

  • Tnt4ever

Staying with 6+ is the right decision

  • Fevostone

Touch 3D will be in the near future and 2gb or ram is so much better than 1gb makes the phone a beast but come on people having Live Photos witch brings that moment alive is the best in my heart love to see my little people come to life just by a press. Priceless…!!!!!!

  • ¶_ØßÓ·

The irony that the most loved feature is the only feature in the list that’s not mentioned by Apple lol..

  • I’m gunna go off the board here and say the 3D Touch trackpad for scrolling through text. It’s a MUCH better implementation then what they showed off originally (using two fingers to enter trackpad mode). It’s a great replacement for Swipe Swlection which became a reason in and of itself to jailbreak.

The other two obvious choices are 3D Touch in general, and the RAM.

But I’d order them as such..

    1. 3D Touch Trackpad
    2. 3D Touch
    3. 2GB RAM

  • Blip dude

Nothing really. As much as I didn’t want to upgrade, I did it because I told myself that from here on out, I will only upgrade to S models only. The 2GB of RAM is nice, and I finally got to try out Livephotos and 4K in the dark. However, I can’t share Livephotos with other friends, and no one I know has a 4K TV. Hate to be the buzzkill of the party but this phone feels exactly like the 6 Plus, but with features that should have already been included in the first place. But I guess that’s the reason why I will only be updating to the S model from here on anyways. That being said, I look forward to Jailbreaking it soon.

  • DevXav

Talking about things we like about 6S and 3dTouch, I have a question about screen protectors..
Do iPhone 6/6P tempered glass screen protectors work normally with iPhone 6S/6SP?

    • 1d3rboy

Yes they work fine. I put one on my 6s+ as soon as it arrived and 3D Touch works great.

  • Rob_Huska

Force Touch for sure, there is just so much potential with it! As for the faster Touch ID, it may be a little too fast… I have a hard time looking at my lock screen when pressing the home button.

  • Scott

I went into the Apple store and tried 3D touch, didn’t seem like something I would need/use all the time and more of a gimmick. Sure my photo’s might be a bit better and the phone would be a bit faster then my 6… But I can’t justify spending that much money

    • iPhoneWINS

Nope if you have a 6 or 6plus there is no need at all for a 6S or 6Splus

  • Originally wasn’t interested in purchasing this device, then work stepped in and said I could get it. Having that said, I’ll no longer purchase regular releases, only S. With this device the S series really proves it’s gone above and beyond the regular releases. It stinks to wait every other year but honestly the refinements on this device are amazing. The taptic engine is a huge improvement as well as the 2gb of ram. This S should stand up nicely for a few IOS updates. Going to be really interesting to see how Apple changing the interface on IOS X, if they do.. how well it will run on 1gb devices.

    • iPhoneWINS

I will stick too regular releases so i can have the new iPhone resign first… cause it will be better than the old model S every time

  • emmanuel fernandez

Hey Siri, call my wife ( while I’m driving) “calling wife and putting on speaker phone”. That’s my favorite feature!!

  • iPhoneWINS

    2 gigs and 3d touch

  • iPhoneWINS

count down to iPhone7 starts now this is where the real fun starts

  • Victor Molina

None. My 5s is still going hard

    • I’m not mad at that. I actually totally feel ya.

      • kespiritu

My 5s is still snappy af, just hoping apple improves on iOS 9 a lot before I update. Mostly the interface lag and a ton of bugs. :/

  • RubbaNeck

2 GB of RAM for me. Live Photos will not work right for me…I just restored 10min ago and I’m still having the same problem. When I scroll through my camera roll I cannot tell which ones are live and which ones are stills because the live ones do not animate briefly….this is pissing me off to the highest level of pisstivity. If anyone had this problem and figured out a fix please let me know.

  • TwinSon

I’m enjoying the ram. What Im really looking forward to is one day if GBA emulator is able to incorporate 3D touch. Only thing missing from games like Super Mario World is the holding down the buttons to run or hold shells!!
