The TaiG team has officially released version 2.4.3 of its iOS 8.4 jailbreak tool for Windows. The update piggybacks off the beta version of the 2.4.3 release that was ushered in last week.

Version 2.4.3 brings jailbreak optimization to the fore, and should theoretically result in a more stable and straightforward jailbreak experienced for its users. If you’ve yet to jailbreak, then we recommend using TaiG 2.4.3. You can find the full download in this post.

Here is the full change log for TaiG 2.4.3:

  • Integrate the latest Cydia 1.1.23.
  • Optimize the process of jailbreak.

As you can see, there are no changes from the previous beta version of the release. Along with the jailbreak optimization, the latest version of Cydia Installer is included as well—version 1.1.23.

You can download the TaiG 2.4.3 update from our downloads page.

Although this tool is for Windows-only, you do have options if you run a Mac. First and foremost, you can use the virtual machine method to run TaiG on your Mac. You can also use a Bootcamp partition. The easiest, option, however, is to just use the PP Jailbreak tool for Mac. That tool was designed for the Mac, although TaiG claims that the PP team pilfered some of its code in the process.

Above all things right now on the priority list is the need to protect your jailbreak. With iOS 8.4.1 looming, an update that is rumored to break the iOS 8.4 jailbreak, it’s imperative that users take proactive steps right now to preserve their device’s jailbreakability.

What are your thoughts on TaiG’s release pattern and this latest update?

Thanks, @iAdam1n

I had an issue when trying to jailbreak my iPhone 6 today using Taig 2.4.3. First I restored it as new using iTunes and then tried the tool which stopped at 20% and after 10 minutes on hold, it restarted my phone and then held for 10 more minutes before restarting my phone again and still on 20% so after the third restart and 32 minutes after, I closed the tool and restored my phone again.

I hear plenty of people still having issues with the TaiG jailbreak. I used TaiG v2.3.0 to jailbreak my iPhone 6 on iOS 8.3 on my MacBook Pro with VMWare Fusion7 running Windows10 and it went perfectly well. No freezing, no hangs, no unexpected behaviour, all went well. Just use TaiG v2.3.0 like I did.

Thank you for replying. I’m also running on my rMBP with Fusion 7 and Windows 7 Pro. I tried again after installing a few apps on iTunes and it worked, even with the tool version 2.4.3. No idea why or how.

      • Mr_Coldharbour

I’m glad it worked out for you. Well done. Enjoy your jailbreak.

Hey guys, TaiG is saying it can’t find the Apple Driver??

    • Mr_Coldharbour

Make sure you plugged in your iPhone while your virtual machine Windows is running (if you’re on a Mac of course). And then the virtual machine app (in my case it was VMWare Fusion7) will prompt you to “use iPhone on Mac” or “use iPhone on Windows”, choose Windows obviously and it will/should install all the necessary drivers. Make sure your internet connection is working and run iTunes at least once while your iPhone is plugged in and let it recognise your device. Once that’s done, just quit iTunes. Also use iTunes v12.0.1 like I did and everything SHOULD work just fine. It did for me the first time around. All necessary download links are somewhere in the jailbreak thread in IDB—there was a post that had download links for Windows 10 Insiders Preview, VMWare Fusion7, TaiG v2.3.0 and iTunes v12.0.1, all of which worked for me. Good luck!

    • Dale

google an earlier version of ITunes i think it’s or something like that. uninstall newest version then put this version. that will take care of apple driver issue.

      Update drivers

    • M_Hawke

I had the same problem and saw another post which solved it for me. Instead of downgrading your version of iTunes, when you get that message, click on the link below it (not the big rectangle button). It will take you to a page in Chinese, right-click, select translate to English, and click on the third link (if my memory serves) to download the iTunes drivers. Then install the drivers as Administrator and you should be good to go.

I needed to come back, and Thank You…your method worked like a charm.

      • M_Hawke

Super! Glad to be of help.

  • Raincon79

Taig Team is awesome 😉 you can see that the guys put a lot of work, and for that I thank tchem.Thank u TAIG Team 😉

    • Dale

I totally agree Taig worked great for me first time and i’m a total nude

      • Dale

I like that nude. “nubeee!” dumb***

      • M_Hawke

LOL! We’ll just say it was autocorrect at work.

  • Dale

Never had an issue at all with any of the Taig jailbreaks as long as it was a fresh install…”back up first” turn off find my phone in icloud & do not put 4 ditgit pin in! with fresh install then turn on airplane mode. you can restore all your stuff later after cydia is installed..

    • M_Hawke

I did. Fortunately found an easy fix, but did all the steps for a fresh install. Jailbreaking is just an art, not a science.

      • Dale

        it is all art.

My only problem with the PP tool is that it seems like in these early stages the TaiG untether package will receive a few updates through Cydia and PP does not. While PP is easier for Mac users will you benefit from updates from packages to the untether package they use or is there no need for any subsequent updates? This was my only hesitation when deciding between the pain-in-the-ass TaiG on Mac jailbreak process or the much simpler PP jailbreak process.

    • Neel Parikh

Go with pp on Mac it is so simple and 100% working

      • iPhoneWINS

    • J. Rockwell

Why do you need an update when the PP for Mac works perfectly?

Listen I jail broke my iPhone 6+ with a virtual machine. It took close to an hour. I used PP for Mac to jailbreak my girlfriends iPhone 6 and it took 2 1/2 minutes. I don’t understand why anyone would EVER chose the taiG if they are using OS X.

      • Mark S

You’re right why do people need a taig update? All it does it give you the latest cydia. Whoop de do. You can update cydia in cydia itself. Use pp and stop whining everyone.

  • abhi0n0nakul

Does this still need older itunes?

  • Robert L. McConnell Jr.

    Where is the MAC version???

    • Mr_Coldharbour

Forget about TaiG releasing a Mac version, it won’t happen or it just seems highly unlikely now. Apple is due to release iOS 8.4.1 and rumour has it that it kills the jailbreak so if I were you, I’d consider these two options:

      1) Use the PP jailbreak, it is a Mac tool, no virtual machine required. You’ll have a jailbroken device in less than 3mins.

      2) Bear the brunt and install VMWare Fusion 7, Windows 10 Insiders Preview, iTunes v12.0.1, and TaiG v2.3.0. All these worked for me the 1st time around. Run your Win10 inside that virtual machine and jailbreak your device.

      You have no other alternative.

  • Damian

So this still does not recognize the latest iTunes version?
I have tried it and it told I don’t have drivers to perform jailbreaking

    • iPhoneWINS

      use PP

    • Run as admin

      • Damian

        That’s not it

    • Mr_Coldharbour

Just use iTunes v12.0.1. After that’s installed, plug your iPhone in and let iTunes recognise your iPhone, choose to be used on Windows (if the virtual machine prompts you between Mac and Windows, choose Windows obviously), tap on “Trust this computer”. It worked for me the 1st time around and I never had to mess with it again. You should find all relevant download links here on IDB in the jailbreak section.

Ok Ive been having a serious issue. About almost all the time when I download a tweak(s) from Cydia, cydia doesn’t show 100% complete maybe it’ll stop at 84 or whatever but the tweak itself would still install at full 100% why is that? AND sometimes when I try to “continue to queue” it’ll crash, AND, haha sorry, when Cydia would (I think) finish downloading the tweak(s) it’ll crash. What’s going on?? Please help.

  • iPhoneWINS

    PP is much better

  • Max

I wasn’t sure where to post this but I bought an iPad from eBay just to find out that the previous user never signed out of his account. I tried full restore but can’t do anything until I can log out of old account. I can’t get in touch of the seller. I was hoping the jailbreak community had some idea of this workaround. Thank you

    • Sadly the seller scammed you by selling you a stolen phone, theres no way to get it unlocked. Get in touch with ebay and raise a complaint asap. Make it clear that you were sold a stolen phone. You’ll get your money back in a week or two.
