Have you ever had the desire to hide specific Messages app conversations? What about the ability to do so when unlocking your iPhone?

iPicar is a recently released jailbreak tweak that allows you to do just that. By means of a special passcode that’s used to unlock your iPhone, iPicar can hide specific conversations in the Messages app with ease.

Once iPicar is installed, you’ll need to head over to the stock Settings app to configure the tweak. iPicar’s preferences include a kill-switch, a Contacts section to select the specific contacts involved with the messages you wish to hide, and two text input fields to enter passcode details.

The passcode fields are there to enter your iPhone’s current passcode, and the secret passcode that will be used when you wish to hide specific messages involving specific contacts configured in the Contacts section mentioned above.

After everything is configured, simply lock your iPhone and enter the “Hide” passcode established in the settings to hide the conversations that fall into your designation. To get all of the conversations back, simply unlock your iPhone with your regular passcode.

Yes, it’s a bit James Bond-ish, but that’s what makes it cool. If you wish to try iPicar, then head over to Cydia’s BigBoss repo where you can download it for $1.55.

Would LOVE this tweak….if 8.2 or above was jailbroken. Any progress that anyone knows about?!?

Be great if we can choose apps, like photos, certain apps and phone dialer or make it so that the phone Dialer is only available.

That dev went MIA. Guestmode is buggy.

Wow …I definitely need this. I had to update and lose my JB because of the watch.

This is one of the most brilliant tweaks I’ve seen in a long time. Perfect for all those cheaters out there 🙂

iPrivacy was much better but it seems as if every tweak that had come out like this gets one update and then the developer is no where to be found to support future OS updates.

So true. There’s nothing as good as iPrivacy

How about when they send you new messages, will the that become hidden too or will you get a notification?

  • iBanks

There was BiteSMS that did this is the most brilliant way, development stopped. iPrivacy did it in the same exact way as bite but with extras, development stopped. ConvoProtect did this, development stopped. HiddenConvos Pro works but have to unhide all convos at once and then hide them all back again since there hasn’t been another update to correct the issue in quite some time. iBlacklist is the worst way to do this. And now there’s iPicar… Nice implementation, but will it continue to gain updates for future OS updates is the question. I have my doubts. I’ve paid for each of these tweaks over the years and they all ended up dead.

Hence why I’m still on 6.1, sadly.
