The official Apple Watch User Guide is now available for download on the iBooks Store. Content-wise, the free electronic book is the same as the online version that Apple published yesterday on its website, it’s just optimized for the iBooks app for the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Mac.

“Here’s everything you need to know about Apple Watch and the Apple Watch app on iPhone,” reads the blurb on the iBooks Store.

“Use this guide to learn about all the amazing things Apple Watch can do, and how to do them. It’s the definitive guide for getting the most from your new Apple Watch, straight from Apple.”

As you can see for yourself, the guide covers both hardware and software features of the Apple Watch and is a treasure trove of how-tos and tips and tricks.

In a Get Started section, you get a quick overview of the Watch, from instructions on pairing the device with your iPhone and setting it up to sending messages to using the Workout app and more.

A Basics section covers the things you’ll probably use most. Other sections provide a breakdown of specific features like Notifications and Glances, fitness and health functions as well as the myriad of stock apps.

If you’d rather read this book online, just point your mobile or desktop browser at The online guide automatically adjusts to your screen size. I’m liking that the online guide features a great, lightweight and elegant design.

Those concerned about the recency of information in a downloadable book needn’t worry as iBooks pushes content updates to the books you’ve purchased. So no matter which version you pick — the online or the iBooks Store one — you’ll always have access to up-to-date information.

Download Apple Watch User Guide free from the iBooks Store.

To view this book, you must have an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with iBooks 1.5 or later and iOS 4.3.3 or later, or a Mac with iBooks 1.0 or later and OS X 10.9 or later.

received the watch today and boy am I disappointed. It is heavier than I expected. The thickness of it reminds me of the 1st original iphone released.

Really? it’s lighter and smaller than it looks in all the ads and review videos IMO.

      • Thunder Cats

you will definitely feel the weight on your wrist. Even my Omega, Movado, tagHeuer doesn’t weight as much as this. The more I stare at it, the more lame it look. Seriously, it’s freakin THICKER than the 1st iPhone. Anything thicker than the iPhone6 is too thick for a watch. Let’s hope the functionality make up for the lack in looks

      • Chang in Charge

Well my watch game isn’t on your level but I got a few and when I wore the watch in the store for 20 minutes it didn’t feel that heavy. I have two watches that are more noticeable than the Apple Watch, but not as thick.

      • It is pretty thick but not thicker than the 1st gen. 11.6mm vs 10.5mm.. Since it is a feature packed ‘smart watch’ it is supposed to be thicker than the norm. At least for now, but don’t expect the second gen to be much slimmer either.

Your arms must be smaller than kite string. Even my wife hasn’t complained about the weight.
