Can't find Apple driver, please download and install iTunes

If you’ve been trying to jailbreak iOS 8.2 beta 1 or 2 with TaiG 1.3.0 over the last couple of days, you may have encountered an issue. An error that says: “Can’t find Apple driver, please download and install iTunes” has been causing all sorts of problems for would be jailbreakers.

iTunes may indeed already be installed, but it’s the latest version of iTunes for 64-bit Windows machines that’s causing the error to begin with. Perhaps you’ve tried to downgrade your copy of iTunes unsuccessfully. Or maybe you’ve just given up on trying to jailbreak your iPhone on a Windows machine. Well, don’t give up just yet, because we have a solution inside.

The first thing you need to do is uninstall iTunes.

Step 1: Go to Control Panel → Programs → Uninstall a program, and completely remove iTunes.

Step 2: Go to this link, and download iTunes 12.1.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

Step 3: Install the newly downloaded version of iTunes 12.1.1

Step 4: Run TaiG again

Now, instead of seeing the error message above, you should see the following:

Can't find Apple driver, please download and install iTunes FIXED

  • Jenifer Dean

still see the error after reinstall. tried on 2 different computers. what now?

  • jz100

I’m betting this whole page is fake. For one thing, they are telling everyone to install a specific version of itunes, yet they link you to Apples own webpage, and everyone knows they aren’t going to let you download older versions.

  • Piper Cottell

Mine still doesnt work. It still says ‘apple driver hasn’t been found’, and when i click on the website below it to install the apple driver it doesnt load the page, someone help me please

  • Sidro Ko

Sometimes even if youve done those steps the error will still show up. For windows 7, the pc needs to be restarted for the install to take effect

  • Great information here. This iphone thing is a menace
