Pangu Mac

Good news for Mac users who have been unable to jailbreak due to the lack of a native Mac jailbreak tool for iOS 8.x: The Pangu team has heard your cries, and is gearing up for an OS X release.

In a Twitter post just a few minutes ago, the PanguTeam Twitter account acknowledged the release of Cydia 1.1.16, and followed that acknowledgement up with some insight on the status of the Mac jailbreak. Have a look at the details inside…

The team states that they are already working on a Mac version of their popular tool, and that a release is very close, perhaps only two days away. It’s bittersweet news in light of the recent iOS 8.1.1 beta release. As we reported, iOS 8.1.1 kills the iOS 8 jailbreak, and it’s only a matter of time before Apple releases the iOS 8.1.1 firmware and stops signing iOS 8.1.

Lets hope that Pangu can make good on their release window, and that plenty of Mac users who have thus far been unable to jailbreak are able to do so. Again, if you’ve yet to update to iOS 8.1, now is the time to do so to ensure that you’ll be able to jailbreak when the time comes.

Are you happy that a Mac version of Pangu8 is imminent?

  • ReanimationXP

Not sure why they’re bothering at this point.. their efforts would be better spent on seeing if they can get around whatever was fixed in 8.1.1

    • Daniel Beecham

no need for 8.1.1 JB, i think there gonna work on the possible 8.2, a 8.1.1 Would be just a waste of exploits!!!

      • ReanimationXP

The bugs would obviously be the same. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t.

      • Chris

The bugs would obviously be the same. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t.

The bugs aren’t the same, the exploit Pangu used for iOS 8.0 and 8.1 is 100% patched in iOS 8.1.1, they have no intention of burning a new exploit on it but instead they will be holding out for iOS 8.2 instead which means it won’t be patched until iOS 9 more than likely.

        Exactly as Daniel said.

      • ReanimationXP

Thanks for the clarification toolshed #2.. any bugs that are present in 8.1.1 will likely be present in.. you guessed it.. 8.2! I didn’t say release it now, I said start looking into what was changed.

..Or we could do it your guys’ way and look for bugs in a piece of software that doesn’t exist yet.

      • Chris

No need for the name calling, the one major point you keep missing is the following.

“If Pangu were to exploit iOS 8.1.1 and release it that means Apple will more than likely patch iOS 8.2 hence as both myself and Daniel have said is a waste of an exploit, it’s far safer to wait until 8.2 as in the past jb creators don’t exploit minor releases.”

You appear to be missing the entire point we’re trying to make, there is NO change an exploit will be wasted on 8.1.1, if you think it’s worth it go ask Pangu what they think, you will get the same response as this.

      • ReanimationXP

I’m not talking about RE-USING PATCHED exploits or releasing for 8.1.1 dude, how dense are you? Just stop talking..

      • Chris

I never said re-use, either you aren’t reading properly or don’t understand, as far as I’m concerned your understanding of exploits is at best minimal.

      • ReanimationXP

Right bud. Go find a copy of 8.2 and get crackin then.

      • Rated R

chris you have some good knowledge. what i think ReanimationXP means is they should spend time finding exploits in 8.1.1 that would be used in a future jailbreak 8.2.x or 8.3.x or ios9. you already know that known exploits found in CURRENT ios are saved for future jailbreaks. it really doesn’t matter because the Mac version will only take them a couple days as stated by Pangu. i don’t think ReanimationXP meant they should use the exploits they might find in 8.1.1 to JB 8.1.1.

      • ReanimationXP

Thank you. Finally someone can read.

      • Don Walker II

To quote you, “Thanks for the clarification toolshed #2.. any bugs that are present in 8.1.1 will likely be present in.. you guessed it.. 8.2! I didn’t say release it now, I said start looking into what was changed.”

Just a side note, this is not a guarantee. Apple has their own team that searches for exploits within their own OS and if they stumble upon a vulnerability in 8.1.1, they will not hesitate to patch it. Your statement suggests that Apple will likely either not find, or overlook weaknesses found within 8.1.1.

      • ReanimationXP

It happens more often than not. Unless there is a jailbreak or other security concern they usually just do break/fix and other small changes. It’s unusual for Apple to catch an unburned exploit.

      • Dieter Paleo

why do you have to be so abrasive?

  • IOSGuru9

    yes finally XD

  • Anmol Malhotra

    I love you Pangu! πŸ˜€
They’re working so hard! We’re lucky to have them!
Chinese are not bad πŸ˜€ :p

    • ReanimationXP

Oh trust me, they are.. but Pangu is not πŸ™‚

      • ReanimationXP

Actually, I work in a security operations center, and we watch their hacking “businesses” wake up in the morning and go to bed at night, probing our network. “Hacking” is not illegal in China and so there are entire businesses set up to hack government and private business bodies here in the US. But yeah, I’m the d1ck πŸ™‚

like most users on idb, he is a kid (no offense to kids of course) who has been programmed to be oversensitive to everything that they deem as ‘hurtful’

reality isnt in the cards sometimes – even when something is staring you in the face… being politically correct is

      • Rak S

        Said like a true American… f*ckin’ id1ot!

      • ReanimationXP

Said like someone who watches them hack our network day in and day out without their government doing anything about it.

      • Rak S

Remind me, which country are the NSA from?
Seriously, you need to stop making yourself look even more stupid!

      • ReanimationXP

There’s a big difference between the government eavesdropping and condoning citizen hacking you tw@t. Talk about stupid.

      • Rak S

LOL… Right, if a government does both on its own citizens, and abroad, that’s totally OK.
Get back in your box, son.

      • ReanimationXP

Show me where I said the NSA > China, dumb@ss. Both are scumbags, as are you.

  • Christian MejΓa

    This means tomorrow.

  • Damn, Pangu team has really been a dream come through for the jailbreak scene. Maybe one day they’ll uncover a boot-rom exploit…thus far, only Geohot has achieved that.

Ps. Anyone know if they accept PayPal donations? If so, where?

    • Abdullah Safdar

      Through paypal…ofc!

      • Obviously, but I can’t just send the cash to some random PayPal address thinking it’ll arrive in their wallet…

      • Abdullah Safdar

        Hmm…. Legit answer!

  • Jimmy Velletta

Yes finally! My iPhone 6 was getting boring.

  • Ana Paula

Activator is out for iOS8 !!

    • Chris

It has been for a number of days now

      • Antonio

is Activator working properly in your case? I’m having several issues with Activator. sometimes some swap in gestures don’t work. I have to go back to lock screen and unlock to make them working again. and some gestures involving status bar cause reset of some settings like ringtones, luminosity, battery percentage showing up, or some email configurations. also wifi triggered events don’t work.

      • Chris

For me yes it is, I’ve setup quite a few gestures including 2 on my status bar and a few on my volume controls.

  • Eli Montoya

kinds pointless by now but i guess…

  • William Melendez

Yes ! I’ll be patient ! Just fix all the bugs and don’t rush into it PanguTeam ! We appreciate your hard work and effort into this JB : )

    • Chris

At this point the jb is bug free for the vast majority of users, those having issues are either installing unsupported tweaks or have very rare use cases.

On my iPhone 6 I have my passcode enabled with Touch ID, Find My iPhone, 16 tweaks installed, no boot loops, no lag, no battery drain, it’s running silky smooth.

      • Logan

I am very surprised by the performance of my jailbroken iPad Air 2, I had the iPad 2 which was slow when jailbroken with several packages, now using the iPad Air 2 with Winterboard, 7 tweaks, and other jailbreak packages, it still is super fast and responsive.

  • John Mclean

thank u pangu jailbreak ios 8 mac i will be waiting

  • Toni

I am thinking about upgrading my iPad 2 from 7.1 to 8.1 but I heard that the performance on iOS 8 is terrible. Can someone give me some advice?

    • 12345678

unless you care about the new features in 8.1 like yosemite and iOS 8 integration and iCloud drive, don’t even bother. Otherwise, you have to wait a lot of time before developers update their tweaks.

      • Logan

you can’t even use continuity/handoff with iPad 2 at all (iPad 2 has BT 2.1, handoff requires BT 4.0LE). So I would stay on iOS 7, supposedly 8.1.1 will drastically improve performance on older devices.

  • Tim

Offtopic: I installed iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5s about 2 days ago and it was draining battery, now it just stopped no drain at all. How strange.

    • Rowan09

Maybe you updated the Cydia installer which was suppose to fix that issue.

      • Tim

Not jailbroken yet, I had restored to stock iOS trying to figure out what was causing the drain

    • iPhoner

Check your cellular usage. I had the same issue with my 6 when upgraded from 8.0, battery drained and then stopped within days. Cellular usage was through the roof and almost maxed my data usage (6gb). Over 1.5gb data usage a day.

  • Lurker22

Here come a ton of buggy releases announced every 10 minutes on iDownload blog … πŸ™‚

  • Thank you sweet Jesus

  • Joonyaboy

cMon! Can’t wait. Although in the future I see Apple including an f.lux option on their phones as research shows the detrimental effect of blue light at night disrupting sleep hormone production.

  • Joonyaboy

off topic: Is there an iOS8 compatible jailbreak tweak that removes the animations or speeds them up?

    • Logan

  • Tony Trenkle Jr.

About damn time!!! I tried jailbreaking my ipad air 2 on my familys old ass desktop computer the other day and it didnt work. So this is GREAT news!

  • Xee

Off topic but whats the best way to block ads on jailbroken iOS 8? As Adbloker has not been updated for iOS8 yet…

  • Preben Faarkrog Hansen

When it hits, im on it like a fly on a shit…. bring out the gimp pangu8 πŸ™‚

  • Logan

I don’t really think a Mac version is necessary (even though I use OS X), just download Paralles/VirtualBox and a Windows 10 ISO and you’re good to go.

  • Guest

    no thanks
I never jailbreak my mac, otherwise need to install antivirus

  • M Last

    that’s funny
I remember Pwnage tools first released for mac users & after that for windows

what do you think Pangu team have a mac? :)LOL

  • mike

So is it just my lack of education, or has the backup/restore function not always been supported post-jailbreak?

  • Hugo Guardado

has anyone have this issue or its just me just upgrade to ios 8 and jailbreak it with pangu but seen battery decreasing really fast? or its just my imagination in 5 minutes from 100 goes to 93 by jist using phone in settings no internet use

    • Walter White

      Install ” detailedbatteryusage ”
it gives a more clear look wich apps/processes drain your battery. It’s very user friendly

You can find it in cydia under the bigbossrepo

      • Guest
