The official Pokemon trading card game which was demoed in August is now available for the iPad in the App Store. Titled Pokémon TCG Online, the 504-megabyte download supports any iPad with the Retina screen and online multiplayer.

The game challenges players to collect a deck of Pokémon cards, customizes and use them against other computer opponents or human players in battles.

Your decks and card collection are stored in your Pokémon Trainer Club account so you can easily switch devices with ease without losing anything.

Available card decks include Grass, Fire and Water themed decks, and each can be enhanced with booster packs. As you may have guessed, you’ll mostly earn additional cards in battles.

Features include:

  • Play, trade and challenge other players around the world: Have fun learning and mastering the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online! Practice against the computer or go head to head with your friends or other players from around the world. Unlock cards and decks as you play to build up your collection and make truly unique decks. Your decks and card collection are stored as a part of your Pokémon Trainer Club account, allowing you to switch between iPad and desktop with ease.
  • Easy to start: Choose from Grass, Fire, or Water decks, step right into a game, and learn as you go in an easy play experience.
  • Expand your collection: Earn cards, open booster packs, trade with other players, and build the perfect deck around your favorite cards. Your collection grows with you!
  • Customize your experience: Build your own decks, customize the look of your cards, deck boxes, and avatar, and join your friends online.
  • Hone your skills: Play against the computer until you are ready to challenge other players.
  • Challenge the world: When you feel your deck design is ready, challenge other players or join a tournament to show your skill and knowledge.

In addition to customization options available for your cards, you can also personalize your avatar, deck boxes and more. Again, as the game only supports Retina iPads, it won’t run on the original iPad, iPad 2 and original iPad mini.

Pokémon TCG Online is a free download. Note that an Internet connection is required to play the game. One more thing: if the iTunes download link below takes you to the Pokémon TV App, that’s because Pokémon TCG Online hasn’t launched in your country yet.

Awesome way to promote the Card Game, too.

  • Ah man, ipad only. That stinks! 🙁

  • Not only iPad only but retina iPad only? Damn.

  • Manuel Molina

The fact that I have a 6 plus and not an iPad kills me inside. I’m a big Pokemon fan.

    • fb2

That’s really annoying, it should be also available for the 6+…

    • Anonymous

You will be able to play it on the 6 plus as soon as a jailbreak comes around so don’t worry too much about it 😉

      • Manuel Molina

It’s going to be awhile. The last one to be released when the iPhone 5S came out was in January.

  • Nex

Is there a tweak to get iPad apps on an iphone/iPod? I thought there was…

    • Roboter

You don’t even need a tweak if you have a jailbroken device. The only thing you will have to do is to modify some files like Info.plist for that game and let iTunes think the ipa on your computer is for your iDevice. Just sync and you’re done. This also works with non jailbroken iDevices BUT you need a dev acc to be able to resign the ipa. Search for the way ppl playing hearthstone on their iPhones. (I resigned hearthstone ipa for my self to be able to play on my non jailbroken iPhone)

Pretty good game however it needs a lot more polish. But then I was expecting it to be more like Hearthstone.

  • Does anyone know if they’ll release this to the iPhone at some point? iPhone 6 and 6+ would make sense since those screens would be a good size for this game. Wasn’t sure if they announced anything yet.

  • Shorttyy713
