How to supercharge Control Center with CCQuick

By , Dec 30, 2013

CCQuick

When Control Center was initially unveiled at the iOS 7 event, I quickly identified it as being one of the key areas that jailbreak developers would hone in on. It didn’t take much rocket science to make such an obvious prediction, but I’m glad to see that I was right.

CCQuick is the latest jailbreak tweak to hit the wire offering an enhanced Control Center experience, and it works very well. Inside, I’ll break down each of its features in our hands-on video walkthrough.

After installing CCQuick, venture into the stock Settings app to find a dedicated preference panel for the tweak. Inside of CCQuick’s preferences, you’ll find two toggles—both dedicated to handling how the tweak reacts to a kill-all-apps command—and another section meant for customizing the default page to be displayed when invoking the Control Center.

The first page included with CCQuick is the stock System page. The systems page includes the flashlight, timer, calculator, and camera shortcuts.

The next page is dedicated to CCQuick’s settings; these include a simulated Home button for quickly getting back to the Home screen without using the Home button, a respring button, a settings cog for accessing iOS 7′s secret hidden settings, and a kill button, which is represented by a trash can icon.

CCQuick’s final page is dedicated to multitasking. It’s basically an app switcher that allows you to switch between apps right from the convenience of Control Center.

As stated earlier, killing apps is performed by tapping the trashcan button on the CCQuick page. In the tweak’s settings, you can designate whether or not you want the kill to include the currently open app, and/or any apps playing music.

A tweak like this has lots of room for growth, but even in its initial version, I find it to be desirable. If you’re jailbroken on iOS 7, I recommend that you give CCQuick a shot. It’s not a life changing tweak, but it’s a good indication of the type of Control Center modifications that we could see in the future.

As always, please let us know down below in the comments section if you’ve installed CCQuick, or if you plan to install it.

god i hope Mobile Substrate will be fixed VERY soon…

    • Nate McKelvie

As do all of us lol. I’m dying to tweak out my phone lol

      • Guest

Is mobile substrate fixed for iPhone 5?

      • Wood1030

It hasn’t been updated yet for ios7 jb, so it’s important to not install tweaks and apps that are not known to be compatible.

      • http://www.CJMellon.com CJ Mellon

Actually it was JUST updated today! It doesn’t mean everything will now work, there is still work to be done. But just in time for 2014!

      • DSPT

Most are compatible. I’ve not found any tweak that hasn’t working on my i5 and I’ve tweaked the hell out of it!

      • Nate McKelvie

        It is now

      • Jay Kay

I’m using all these tweaks on my iPhone 5, which model you are talking about 5s?

      • Nate McKelvie

Yes I was talking about the 5s

    • Abhinav

It’s fixed for arm 64 ,refresh your Cydia .

      • GzyOnline

umm.. no, it isn’t fixed. yeah, it installs and is present in the stock Settings app but that’s about it.. it doesn’t function and nothing is present in the Control Center. :-(

        CCQuick 1.0-3

    • DSPT

I just updated cydia and there is a lot of substrate updates just posted! Have a look!!

  • Freddy Born

    ipad support?

    • ace

Doesn’t work well on ipad mini. It’s buggy! Some settings are invisible or not showing the icons but when u tap the blank space it will perform the assigned task.
I’ll rather stick to my cctoggle

  • Adrian

    64bit plz

This looks better than Ryan pertrich release

    • iRy757

No creo que Saurik esta en un horario. :(

      • PanaMeño Meño

que decias amigo….Mobile Substrate Listo …..!Enjoy it, Saludos

  • Alberto Espinal

Probably since the Evad3rs gave us the jailbreak for Christmas, Saudik will give us Mobile Substrate for New Year’s Day

    • Luism27

      I hope is true.

    • PanaMeño Meño

      exacto…!

    • Fabrice Ndinda Mugara

      man it was true !!!!

  • Richard King

I like cctogles better. Has better features.

    • kameko

does it do multitasking? doesnt seem like it. so useless to me.

    • ace

Cctoggle works better on ipad because ccquick is still buggy on ipad

  • Newgunnerr

Whats up with the Mexicans all of the sudden?

    • PanaMeño Meño

No tan solo por escribir en español somos todos “Mexicans” como usted le llama (I’m from Panama), aclaro mi respeto a toda la comunidad latina sin discriminacion absoluta….!, Saludos.

      • Royce Otero

        Puerto Rico in the house

    • Wood1030

      Racist much? Geez

      • Todd Sorensen

Mexican is not a race. Like American is not a race. So, this can’t be racist, dude.

      • Wood1030

But assuming someone is Mexican just because he speaks Spanish is racist, dude.

      • Newgunnerr

How is that racist? Go buy a dictionary.

    • iRy757

What’s up with the ignorance all of the sudden?

    • Alex Marwaha

(Upside down question mark)QUE ES ESTO?

  • Steve

I have no menu in the settings tab :(

    • Reyas Mohammed

you may need to reinstall mobile substrate, and substrate safe mode.

      • Steve

        Perfect, thank you

  • Nestor Hernandez Hdz

El mejor tweak que he visto hasta ahora.

  • x3sphere

A very good tweak. Worked very well with iphone 5 7.0.4

  • mav3rick

Newer ControlTask also looks promising. And working with FlipControlCenter.

  • Hermès Vainstar Chu

Jeff, review CCtoggles it has much better functionality

  • Max

Why do I have to drag left for the defuault toggles to show up? It starts out blank every time… Could this be because I’m using flipCC as well…? I’d appreciate feedback from anyone!

    • Max

Nvm. Must change default pane settings and it restores functionality.

  • GzyOnline

i take it this tweak excludes the iPhone 5S :-(.. I don’t see the dedicated preference panel in my stock Settings app :-(

    • Sebastian Godek

No iPhone 5S until Mobile Substrate is updated by Saurik. I heard he is working on it :)

  • chjode

Does anyone know of any tweaks wherein I can kill all open apps, but yet specify an app to remain running in the background and not close? Integration into control center would be ideal.

    • Naman Jain

Try the official Sicarius. It has that feature.

    • Wood1030

As Naman has said, Sicarius will do most of what you need.
Here’s a partial list of options in the Sicarius options menu in settings that you can configure to your liking.

  • AndroidDogHeatandSteelersFan

can soneone help me get rid of these dots on ios7?

    • Daveed

Bigify will remove the dots. What’s your weather app? It looks sick!

      • AndroidDogHeatandSteelersFan

farenhighT? i dont know how to spell it lol

    • Alex Marwaha

      Duuude what’s that weather app????

  • Royce Otero

When mobile substrate is supported for iPhone 5s .. 5s is taking over lol

  • Dan

Doesn’t work in my iphone 5 7.0.3 jailbreak. Any one got it to work, let me know.

    • Wood1030

Works on my i5, nicely, I might add.

    • roja Awakening

You must uninstall “ControlTask” to works.
      Works for me.

      • Dan

I don’t have control task. Man I suck at this lol I try to keep up with these updates and tweaks and can’t get a lot to work. This ones really sweet. But can’t get it to work. No app or settings are on my device and the control center loos the same. Thanks for the response though. Ps I had all repos and cydia the same since jailbreaj….

    It’s not evad3rs’ fault, it’s not even iH8sn0w’s nor Winocm’s fault at all….
It’s evader’s, iH8sn0w’s, winocm’s , saurik’s, geohot’s and any other jb dev COMBINED for not communicating. If they did, we wouldn’t be here.
Well, money talks, I guess, :(.

  • Guest

Is it safe for me to jailbreak my iPhone 5 ios 7.0.4 I mean because of mobile substrate will it work fine please help thanks.

    • Wood1030

Guest, I would say sure, go for it. Although there are hiccups and glitches in the process, I think if you follow the instructions EXACTLY how the are explained in the tutorials that are available, you’ll be happy with the results on your Iphone 5
Just be sure to back up your phone b4 you do a clean install and I think you’ll get best results if set up as a NEW PHONE, as opposed to restore from back up. You can restore your contacts and iTunes apps AFTER the jailbreak install is complete.
I think that there are enough available tweaks and apps to make the jailbresk worthwhile at this point…even with the non-updated mobile substrate, but there are work-arounds for that, just don’t go willy nilly and try to install every suspect app out there. Refer to the known list and users input as to which apps/tweaks are safe to install.

      • Alex Marwaha

        *jailbreak

  • kameko

i don’t like how it switches apps. in other CC multitasking tweaks, switching from one app to another is more seamless and doesn’t involve zooming out to the horrible ios7 multitasking cards, sliding over to the app you chose to reopen, and zooming back in. even with the NoSlowAnimations tweak its just jarring.

  • Guest

Do I have to restore then jailbreak or can I just jailbreak as my phone is.thanks

    • Dan

They consider you do a full restore (back up your device before) but you may also do it as is. There should be a tutorial on this site look for it.

Can’t find it; and I have bigboss repo……

  • J™

i installed and tried……. i must say its a great tweak.
if it can auto kill app after a certain amount of time your device is locked would be awesome!

  • J™

    new Substrate is here!

    • GzyOnline

just installed new Cydia substrate on my iPhone 5S.. my guess is CCQuick is not compiled for it because although I can now see CCQuick’s dedicated preference panel in my stock Settings app, nothing is added to the Control Panel… :-/

      • Freddy Born

“Substrate 0.9.5000 has been released, with support for iOS 7 and ARM64. (For extensions to work on ARM64, they must be recompiled to ARM64.)”

    • Alex Marwaha

Yo no hablo epañol. Yo quiero un iPhone 5s por favor. Gracias.

  • Freddy Born

why doesnt apple include those kind of features? I mean, seriously…

    • http://sciencedem.blogspot.com editor

Because they dumb things down for the masses

  • Ben

I’m gonna install it right now. Seems cool.

  • AAA117

What’s the difference between CCquick, CCtoggles, CCsettings, and flipcontrolcenter?

  • GzyOnline

uhh.. still not working on my iPhone 5S on iOS 7.0.4 :-(

  • Jason

Everytime I install CCQuick on my 5S, it resprings twice, thus cancelling out all of my other cydia tweaks. Rejailbroken already, Cydia Substrate has been installed, uninstalled and installed again. It happens with a few more tweaks, but I can live without them. Any ideas on what the issue may be?

  • Robert Adams

not working with my 5S guess they haven’t updated for ARM64 yet

  • Joshob1987

I love this tweak but I wish there was a way to kill specific apps from the multitask page instead of killing all or all but the current app. That part of it should be like more like auxo(swipe down to kill) or even the ios 7 native app switcher(swipe up to kill) so I dont have to wear out my home button to do it. I am having major issues with my ipod 4g home button after only one year and dont want the same thing to happen to my 5g version.

  • apa

you cant have quick activator installes for this tweak to work….al least that happened to me
